I have no mods and am having this problem. My Sim had a great relationship with her mother who died (i let her be a ghost in the world, not playing her nor was she reborn). Every time she or her children (who never even met the grandmother) look at the heirlooms they get the angry 'dead to me' moodlet.
IIRC you can only attach emotions to wills and not heirlooms but did you leave an angry will by chance ?
