Magic Beans

So, I finally leveled my character up to 10 for gardening.  After which I purchased a rare seed packet which is available in Seasons.  Anywho, the first packet I opened gave me a flirty magic bean.  My question is this: if the challenge is still not going on, is it possible to do anything with this bean?  I am not even sure where to get the stump to place the beans to begin with.  Is anyone else receiving these beans through the rare packs?

  • @cnickoli25, yes! 😎 You can unlock the Magic PlantSim Stump using a cheat:

in the cheat box type:  bb.showhiddenobjects

and then press Enter.  The stump is found in the "Outdoor Activities" category.  Once you enter this cheat code, you will also be able to purchase the other magic beans/seeds (without growing them, as well as other items like the Easter Eggs, Sugar Skulls, Selvadorian artifacts, etc.  if you want. 🤨   But you can also just use the cheat for the magic stump and then try to fill it without cheating by growing all the magic seed types like you did with the Flirty seed. 😉  But even though the challenge is not running, you will still be able to collect all the seeds (providing you get the stump) and grow the magic tree that you can enter and find the Forbidden Fruit that you can eat to become a Plant Sim.  I was able to do this once the challenge was over by trying it with the cheat. 😳😉

Best of luck and Happy Simming! 🥳

Also can anyone offer advice on really good traits for a Plantsim? I picked the Botanist Aspiration and added outdoor trait. But not sure what to have for the remaining two slots.

@benmaxwell, if I remember correctly it doesn't.  But then again since Vegetarians eat vegetables, why would a this be a good thing for a PlantSim? 🤔😮😃 If they were to get any special moodlets, it would be bad ones for eating their fellow plants! 😉  Either way, I don't remember any positive or negative effect of being a Vegetarian PlantSim.  I can check sometime today if you want me to. 🙂

As for traits, Loves the Outdoors is the most important, and the Botanist Aspiration is a good one.  Just be sure to keep your PlantSim well hydrated with lots of baths, showers, and glasses of water! 🤨 And if you have Seasons, be especially careful of really hot Summer weather.  I would stay away from Oasis Springs, Strangerville, and maybe Del Sol Valley.

Other than those, I can't really think of any that would be especially beneficial, other than traits that are good general traits for all Sims.  Cheerful or Friendly or Good might be nice ones to have.  But I would go with Genius because that way they can raise their Gardening skill (and all other skills) easier. 😉

Please update us on what you decide! 😎

@PugLove888 Thank you so much for the information. I was thinking vegetarian with regard to photosynthesis. Eating the sun but thinking about it now it was a silly question.

I am late to the whole Sims 4 game, I just bought seasons today, plus out door and garden stuff. Got lots to learn, explore and create.

I think I might get the outdoors aspiration instead as I intend my Plantsim to be a bit of a hippie and when completed I heard it gives a good trait, now if only we had a green thumb trait. 🙂 Thanks again!

@benmaxwellno problems!  Glad to help.  I understand your thinking that photosynthesis and vegetarianism might boost each other, since neither uses meat.  It is just that Vegetarians in the game are all about eating mostly plant-based foods (with some eggs and cheese/dairy thrown in, since they aren't Vegans. 😉 ), and plants "eat" sunlight, unless they are a CowPlant! 😃

I went in my game and checked... they don't get Vegetarian mood buffs from photosynthesis, but they do avoid the negative buffs a Vegetarian would get from eating meat.  But this is mostly because while they can eat human food , they don't need to, and in fact it does nothing to raise their hunger bar or keep them from starvation.  Vegetarians will get positive mood buffs from eating plants, even if they are Plant Sims (which is weird 😃 ) but these just stack like any other positive buff (like being in a well decorated room, or talking to loved ones, or dancing, etc. There isn't a special boost for having both Vegetarian and Plant Sim.  I hope that makes sense. 😳

I also forgot to add that swimming keeps them hydrated as does sitting in a hot tub! 🥳 I planned on telling you that, but I got sidetracked!

I hadn't played with PlantSims since before Seasons came out, so there were a few different issues I ran into so far:

It is now much more difficult to get Sunlight by just being outside in the daytime, especially during the rainy season!  The best way to get sunlight if your town is having heavy rain, or multiple days in a row of rain and clouds is either to 1) travel to another town to drink up the sun, or 2) go up to any harvestable and "Absorb solar energy from plant".  I do not remember being able to absorb energy from plants before (maybe I just missed it, but I think it more likely that they added it for people who get Seasons. 😉 )  I haven't played in the Winter as a Plant Sim yet, but I imagine that it is similar to a rainy day.

Now, while  Oasis Springs, and Strangerville get super hot and dry in the Summer and therefore can pose a danger to your PlantSims, there is a benefit to living here in that there are more sunny days than in most other towns!  But I would still be careful if your PlantSims live in these towns because regular plants tend to die quicker in these towns.  Haven't tested Plant Sims in Del Sol Valley yet.  I would also avoid Forgotten Hollow if you have the Vampires GP because the nights are longer in this town and it is often cloudy! 🤨

I'm going to play some more, at least to have a Plant Sim in each season to see how they cope. 🤓 I might also test them in Del Sol Valley.  I am now also interested in how a Plant Sim would do in the jungle from Jungle Adventure! 🤔  That didn't exist the last time I played a Plant Sim.  Outdoor Retreat did, but I've never tried to take a Plant Sim camping either. 🤨

I think having a "Hippie" Plant Sim is a good idea! 😃 It certainly fits! :eahigh_file:  I hope you are having fun exploring the game! 🥳  I've been playing since it came out and I'm still discovering new stuff! 😇

    Happy Simming! ❤️

  • I just got the confidence bean from a rare bean pack and I don’t even have the seasons pack. Can I still do the challenge?

@HighLadyOfAsgard, yes and no!   Yes, you don't need the Seasons EP as this has nothing to do with the PlantSim Challenge.  No, you can't actually do the challenge anymore (at least not as it was originally designed)  as it was a one time event.  But you can get the magic tree stump in Build/Buy Mode and put your Magic Beans in the stump, one for each emotion. You can find it in the Outdoors section (looks like a BBQ grill) and from there you click on the Outdoor Activities (the picture of the planter box).  You can get more magic beans the same way you got your first one, or you can use the "bb.showhiddenobjects" cheat .  Once you put the beans in the stump a giant tree will grow and your Sim can enter the tree and might bring back some forbidden fruit.  You can eat the forbidden fruit right away, but if you want to play as a Plant Sim often, it is better to plant the forbidden fruit so you can become a PlantSim any time you want. 😉
