Making meals favorite

Dear fellow simmers,

When I am having my sims making a meal by clicking on the fridge, I always find myself to choose the same meals.

Depending on which world my sims live in, or what ingredients I usually have in my fridge.

Therefore it would be very nice if EA came up with some sort of 'making favorite' system.

Then you can make a specific set of meals favorite which makes them show up on the top of the meals list.

Just an idea which would make myself at least very happy.

  • @Heddelviven I think it would be really nice if meals were added to preferences (likes and dislikes) and you could have your sim love certain foods and hate others. Like you could get negative moodlets and maybe have your hunger need filled a tiny bit less by food your sim dislikes and then have food your sim likes give happy buffs. Then there would be more of a reason to cook different foods. Or maybe your sim could get bored of a food that they eat too much (especially if they are a foodie) with an exception that maybe gluttons and slobs never get bored of any dishes like normal sims.

@Heddelviven That is a great idea!

Maybe EA can also add in the option to select breakfast, lunch or dinner meals, depending on the time of day your sim is making a meal. Sometimes it can be an annoyance to scroll through the whole menu of meals that is on offer.

  • Also @simmemoirs and @Heddelviven wouldn’t it be soooo great if the sims team added pictures of all the meals and dishes so you knew what you were making? they already have something like that in the dine out pack for making restaurant menus so wouldn’t it be kind of cool to implement some features from that pack into household cooking? Like setting “menus” but for at home…? Like meal planning almost? Also I really love @simmemoirs suggestion of having favourite breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. Your sims can already kinda tell when it’s time for different meals because there is a “serve breakfast” “serve lunch” etc. option when cooking already.

@siirysiir yes this would all go super well with a dine out refresh! I would love to see some more work on that pack. Other things I’d add to a refresh:

    1) ability to be the actual chef for your own restaurant.

    2) please let us hire our family to work for us as chefs waiters etc.

    3) meal options for occult sims (could we please have more dishes for vampires that will restore thirst even if it’s just a tiny bit of thirst that is restored? Plus it would be cool to have special mermaid, alien and werewolf dishes)

    4) preferences (likes and dislikes) for different foods or dishes.

    5) separate traits like vegetarian and lactose intolerant into some kind of dietary restrictions trait section…? That way you could have multiple food restrictions but not have it take away slots from your sims personality (when was lactose intolerance ever caused by someone’s personality lol) could also be used to implement future food allergies…?

@maddinwritestuff --> Point 5) YES I hate it that lactose-intolerance is a personality trait. Or vegetarianism. Or any other food-related restriction they'll ever add. To be honest, I find it offensive even. I'm lactose-intolerant but it has NOTHING to do with what I am as a person and it's not a Defining quality. I don't even think about it when I'm not like, trying to pick an ice cream or something. I'm currently using a mod that makes vegetarian and lactose-intolerant 0 pt reward traits so I can sometimes use them in my game.

@siirysiir sounds like a great mod. If I used moss I would def use that one haha. (I would prob just use trait cheats to do it…?) I think it really puts me off making a lactose intolerant sim because it takes up a whole slot.

Vegetarian: I kinda get why that’s a trait a tiny bit because many vegetarians do that for moral reasons (not all but many do) so it is a little more of a personality-ish thing (but it’s such a small part of who most vegetarians are it seems unfair to have it take up a whole slot especially when there are only 3) but for lactose intolerance it kinda is really odd that that has to be a personality thing..? Like not being able to consume lactose is very much to do with genes it’s like race, eye color and skin tone. You can’t control your body’s ability or inability to eat some foods it has nothing to do with your personality lol. Also I would love to have lactose pill things that your sim can make or buy or something that would let a lactose intolerant sim eat milk or cheese or dairy. Or even better; I saw a super great suggestion someone said somewhere else a while back that needs to be added:

    PLANT MILK!!!!!

If you use plant milk your lactose intolerant sims should be able to eat the meal prepared from it no problem. We have cow plants in the game and milking animations for them and more. Why can’t I milk my cow plant for plant milk to feed my lactose intolerant sims? It would make those plants extra cool and worth growing and interesting.

Also why isn’t veganism a thing in the sims? Just add the lactose intolerance trait and vegetarian traits (because vegetarians in the sims do seem to be genuinely meat intolerant given that it makes them sick. As far as I know most vegetarians don’t just become mega sick after eating a tiny bit of meat but maybe I’m wrong) and add an intolerance to eggs and you get vegans.

Also we could have gluten allergies or allergies in general if diet was a separate thing. Allergies could add more consequences or challenge to the game? Like maybe sims need epipens like humans (I’m sick of how indestructible sims are I want more dangerous stuff) and they can die of allergic reaction. Wouldn’t even be that hard to reuse or alter some of the poison animations from other packs like jungle adventures to create that new death type. It could add realism and an extra challenge (and if players don’t want that challenge they can just not give their sim the allergy or allergies to things). Adding allergic reaction as a death type might even raise awareness for real life allergies (many people still don’t believe in allergies and pranks like giving people food they are allergic to happen in real life so it seems not everyone understands how dangerous allergies are).

just saying there’s so much potential that could be made with the addition of dietary needs or restrictions becoming a whole separate thing.

Plus I people’s fave foods should so be a preference!!! Food is so awesome and essential to living that of course we have all got our own taste in it. I want likes and dislikes for food.

And it should also go for occults too. My vampire should also have more of a preference for certain plasma. Like we can get plasma from fish, frogs, plasma fruit and sims so shouldn’t my vampire like certain plasma more than others? Obviously all vampires would prefer sim plasma but why should my vampire fish instead of frog hunt etc.? Maybe she prefers frog plasma and finds plasma fruit gross? Maybe fish plasma is okay but not loved or hated by her? Same with werewolves. Maybe my werewolf loves raw fish but hates raw steak meat?

Can you tell I want more food content in the sims 4? Lol

Thank you for all your replies.

I would also love to have a search bar option.

For example when searching for 'pie', it would show all the pies.
