Max Sim Count ? for PCs

I'm looking for advice on playing while having my Maxi Sim Count set to Unlimited on my PC. That setting comes with the following warning:

"Setting the Maximum Sim Count to Unlimited will severely impact game speed and load times. It may lead to game crashes."

So, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this and just how much does it impact a generally fast PC? I'm playing with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 TI graphics card and I mostly just use my computer for general online gaming (Second Life, POGO, and the like), so I don't even have that much stuff taking up the memory.
