My sim won’t get a 3rd trait when aging up?

I’ve had this issue multiple times. My sim is aging up from a teenager to a young adult, but when they age up, the option to pick a 3rd trait won’t appear. How can I fix it, or do I just need to wait for a new update and hope that they fixed it?
