My Sims can't chat while fishing

Since the new patch this week, my Sims don't seem to be able to chat while they're fishing anymore, even if they're "fishing together". It doesn't seem to matter which neighborhood they're in or if they're on vacation. It doesn't matter if it's with their significant other or a new acquaintance. Everyone who is fishing is now silent.

I don't yet have the new EP but I did download the patch (after taking out my mod folder and removing the localcache file so there wouldn't be any non-EA/Maxis interference.) I have all the other EP/SP/GPs except "spooky stuff".

@KatAnubis, it was a possibility, but as I had just tested it before replying to you in my previous post, I also couldn't chat while fishing (though I never had been able to chat , at least when ever I have tried).

@TalieChris, I always thought the not being able to chat while fishing was for the reason you stated... it scares away fish in real life. I used to go fishing with my husband and his dad and I had the hardest time not talking to them while fishing! 🤭😃
But I agree with @KatAnubis in that for the game it is very handy to be able to chat while fishing! 🥳

@KatAnubis, I had never been able to get my Sims to chat when fishing! 🤭😃 They used to not be able to, but then a year or so ago they added the "Fish Together" interaction that you mentioned, but I was so used to not being able to chat, I never tested if they could after that patch! 😉 However, I did just test this in the game and I couldn't get them to chat while fishing. 😞

Also, I assume by localcache file you mean the localthumbcache.package file . 🤔 Normally after taking out your Mod folder you will want to delete the localthumbcache.package file (not remove it). 😉 You can also try repairing your game in Origin afterwards.

@PugLove888 yes, by "remove" I meant delete that very file. (I couldn't remember it's whole name and since I had deleted it, I couldn't go back and check its name.)

I'll try repairing the game and see if that helps. Thanks for the idea!

Nope. I repaired the game. They still can't chat while fishing.

Just in case, I had them paint to see if they could still chat while painting. *That* they could still do, fortunately!

Good thing they've already maxed their fishing skill so they don't need to do as much fishing!

I've never been able to have them chat while fishing together, either. I assumed it was an etiquette thing. I grew up fishing, and one of the first things I learned was to be quiet so as not to spook away the fish; same reason you're not supposed to tap on aquariums. However, my sims still gain friendship when fishing together, or mentoring one another.
