New Engaging Ideas for Gameplay - The Sims 4
Hey! I just jotted down a few ideas on how to improve gameplay. I'd appreciate it a lot if you took time out of your busy schedule to take a look. 🙂
Instead of developing and producing more extension packs - or any other packs for that matter - why not first try to enhance the game experience for the base game itself? Here are a couple of ideas I could think of;
Run errands for Sims
I’m thinking about a bulletin board at the Town Hall (or website) where the player can view general requests like bringing Bob cherries for his pancakes, or finding a certain artifact for the local museum. Completing a task for a Sim results in an improvement in the player's relationship with that Sim. Sim can also give presents to players who return to them after completing the task, e.g. Simoleons, fruits, seeds, statues, or other objects they find appropriate for payment. Individual tasks can be found in the player’s mailbox or by talking to a Sim directly. If lucky, the player can also find requests through bottle post at the beach.
There are two types of tasks the player can take:
- Daily tasks appear at 5 AM every day and expire at 5 AM the following in-game day.
- Weekly tasks appear every Monday at 5 AM and expire at 5 AM the following Monday morning.
These can either be general or individual requests. General quests can only be viewed on the bulletin board at the Town Hall and on the internet.
The bulletin board also tells you what is going on around town. Who moved away? Who got married and who died? Who is the newest member of the community? The Bulletin Board acts as an improved version of the newspaper from past The Sims games.
There are several tasks the player can accept:
Delivery - A Sim will ask the player to deliver an item to another Sim or place, e.g. birthday cake.
Clothes - Gift a Sim new clothing for them to wear. Catch them wearing your outfit.
Furniture - Sim wants a specific handmade furniture. (It would be nice if we could create more wooden objects for more variety.)
Fruit - The Sim will ask the player for a specific fruit/plant/seed/fish/bug…
Fish - The Sim will ask the player for any kind of fish or a specific fish.
Bug - The Sim will ask the player for any kind of bug or a specific bug.
Lost Sim - The player must find a Sim or two Sims and bring him/them home, all within the allotted time.
Petition - The Sim will ask the player to obtain 6 signatures from Sims within an allotted time. This task will only be available during a protest.
Daily Item Quest - The item of the day is a specific item determined daily at midnight each day. When the item is worn, your Sim will experience no need decay during that day. To discover the current daily item, read the bulletin board carefully since it will tell you what it is. Once you’ve learned about the item, try to locate it and put it in your inventory to complete the Item Quest. After a day and once the clock strikes midnight your needs will unlock and decay again.
At both your mailbox and the bulletin board, whenever you click on a task, you have two choices. The first is to accept it, and the second is to read more about it. When you have accepted a task, it will appear on the menu. Go into that menu, click on the task, and you could either deal with it now, delete it, or read about it again.
It’s worth noting that tasks are specific to each player, meaning once a task is accepted it won’t show up again - even if it the player rejects it later. There is no possibility of completing the same request twice by playing another Sim.
The player can choose no more than one request at a time. If a task was initially accepted but later rejected, he has to wait till the following day for new requests.
Usually, these requests will have a time limit, some of them rather short, such as ten minutes, or some a long stretch of time, such as before midnight.
Tasks vary based on difficulty level. There are five categories of difficulty, E, D, C, B, A, which are marked at the end of each request letter or mail. Trying to find Bella Goth’s handbag, which was borrowed by other Sims, would be more difficult than giving a flower to another Sim. The higher difficulty level a task has, the better are the rewards.

Fishing/Bug Contests
The player can compete in weekly Fishing/Bug Contests with other Sims. Each contest runs with a different theme.

Mythical Characters invade the Sim world
There is a new Sim on the block called Eros Cupido who makes Sims fall in love or indulge in adult activities. He doesn’t care if your Sim is married or engaged, he is truly the god of desire, attraction and love. Recent sightings of Eros Cupido confirm the chaos of love he leaves behind - Sim kissing and woohooing everywhere! Stay safe and leave your significant other at home - or better yet, lock them up!
Wouldn’t it be great to revive the dead? Now you can! Next time you meet Hades Inferno in town, ask him to gift you a death flower (in case for future deaths) or plead to resurrect a past Sim. Be careful though, this god may be confused or simply not in the mood for any favors and accidentally sent you to the Underworld!

Build-In Challenges
Take on various challenges to either become a cult leader to your own hippie tribe, become a superhero and protect the city or become the biggest mafia boss ever and collect money from Sims, etc. Every challenge has restrictions and prices. By earning badges you can even qualify your Sim as a Cult Leader or Evil Mastermind.

Zombie Apocalypse (Game Pack Idea)
Now you can have viral effects in your town to kill off even more Sims - Great fun! With the addition of the Zombie disease you can now experience a Zombie Apocalypse. Watch out for wild raccoons, foxes and stray animals for they might bite your Sim or pet and infect them with the Zombie disease. You can also get bitten by other Sim who have been infected by the disease. The disease progresses slowly, and the first it seems your Sim came down with a cold. He might vomit, go bananas, and show symptoms of other illnesses in turns. Act fast and get your Sim to the nearest hospital or else it will be too late! Soon he will drag his lifeless body around town, trying to infect as many healthy Sim as possible and turn them into one of his own. Run away when you see Zombies approaching, but whatever you do always carry an Anti-Zombie Spray in your inventory to scare them away. Alternatively, you can also get a vaccination to increase your resistance to the Zombie disease allowing you to fight if off faster once infected. You can even purchase Immune Boosters over the internet to strengthen your immune system, and make it less likely to catch any kind of disease.
As a scientist you can research the disease and produce a detailed report, including symptoms, immunity boosters, inflammatories, etc. If you want things to move a bit faster, you could always try to kidnap a real Zombie and perform a few tests on him. However, there is a possibility that you might get bitten depending on how progressed you are in the scientist career.
Therefore, Zombies have retreated to the swamps and are now living in wooden shacks on foundations over dark and murky waters. Sometimes a curious Sim might find their way into the swamps (At night time an old boat at the shores of Windenburg appears and takes your Sim to the Swamps), and get lost in the thick fog surrounding the area. He will never be seen again or so they say.
I was thinking of the creepy landscape in Pee Mak which would fit perfectly!
