Occult-Free Playing Possible?

This is a question that is reasonably complicated, although I suspect the answer won't be.

Is playing without occult possible in Sims 4? Like, for example, if I don't use the Strangerville expansion will that prevent all aliens from appearing in my game? Or not using the vampires expansion prevent vampires? Or are those things hard-coded into the game even if you don't have those expansions (I bought them 'cause I like the additional worlds and the items, but not the occult playing).

I ask 'cause I have all the expansions and packs right now, and I do play with a fair amount of mods, but I'm really struggling with one of them in particular. Zerbu's GTS mod is a great one, but my elementary school has regularly spawning alien children during the event nearly every day or every other day. They appear around lunchtime outside the school, come in (they're all homeless children, btw), and then my Goth children and the like all leave 'cause there's new alien children to take up the space. I've played it with no other mods but GTS to see if I was a mod conflict, and it still happens. I even reinstalled the game and tried again, and no luck. The great team at GTS support have been wonderfully responsive, but seems to have no clue why it would be happening *only* on my GTS lot (other aliens appear in-game, but they're not children).

So I'm wondering. If I remove Strangerville, for example, will that perhaps not prevent random children from spawning on my elementary school lot during the GTS event, but will they at least all be humans?

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much if you do!!

  • @Braxien  Aliens come with the Get to Work EP, not Strangerville.  If you remove or disable an expansion, you probably won't be able to open any save played with that expansion in place, or if you can somehow load it, the save will probably be corrupted.  So if you want to fix this particular save, the only option may be to remove the mod.

Thanks for the clarification (on GTW v Strangerville).

I'm less concerned about the save than I am continuing to be able to play the mod without constant alien invasions, but IIRC the mod requires GTW to work, so looks like I'm stuck...

  • @Braxien

Since you already play with mods, then do you have MCCC?  MCCC won't completely eliminate the occults but you should be able to get the number of occult sims cut down a bit.  It'll take some experimenting with the settings but you should be able to at least make the situation suit your tastes a bit better.

I have no idea how it will work with Zerbu's GTS mod though as I don't use that one.

    Hope this helps.

  • @Braxien In addition to @CGrant56's mention that there is at least one mod that will help you adjust the invasions settings, you can also add a GTW satellite (the one from the Scientist career) to a home in each neighborhood. Then through an active Sim on that lot, in each case activate the setting that stops alien invasions for the neighborhood.

If you don't have a Sim capable of creating these you can find the satellites in Hidden Objects (open the cheats panel > enter bb.showhiddenobjects > go to electronics > misc (it's called "Satellite Dish"). I added one to a room then saved the room to the gallery, so you should be able to download this to your library then place it as many times in your game as you want (they cost $500 each): https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/04264AC6BF0911EA87670EF682150483

Place the room on each of these lots and grab the satellite in build mode and stick it on the roof, then in live mode have a sim activate the settings you want. I just added a room with a satellite in the gallery if you want to just use that one.
