Offering Missed DLC To All Players

Hey. This can be classified as general discussion and/or feedback for the devs.

I seen on the Xbox Store that buying the new Teen Life expansion pack or whatever it is called before september that players will receive bonus content called the Vibin streamer kid or something like that??

I also seen that cottage living had something similar where players that purchased the Expansion Pack before a certain date will receive bonus content as well

Alot of players, me included always miss the small print and/or can't afford to get the DLC right away and have to wait until it goes on sale to afford it. Therefore alot of us players miss out on the "exclusive" content and never get to see it.

I think EA and the kind folks over at The Sims studios can be generous and make a separate stuff pack that has all the exclusive items that may or may not have been missed and be able to purchase those items players may have missed that way that content is available for everyone.

Because technically speaking the content was not really considered a "preorder exclusive" seeing as the content was available even after preorders to everyone until a certain date.

All bonus DLC items should be put together into a stuff pack for the same price as most stuff packs to allow anyone that didn't get it at the time to have access to it.

    Hi @RJEB1994,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this with us, timed exclusive content like this is something that the Sims Team use to reward players who purchased the pack at launch.

I understand this can be frustrating when you're having to be smart about purchases and miss out on stuff like this, so I'll pass along your feedback to the team as well. 🙂

Thank you. I know you guys have kinda done this in the past with making the "deluxe" content available to everyone by offering it as a separate pack to purchase.

So even though these "quick buy bonuses" are completely different I as well as many others I am sure would be glad to pay $5 to $10 for a pack of DLC we missed out on. Because it seems like as of right now there are a total of 6 or 8 DLC items which is enough to make a stuff pack or something with.

I know my reply is a bit late, but another thing to note about these items, is new players to the game and the gallery build/sim sharing system.
If a new player joins the game and goes to access those limited time items, they can't because they hadn't started playing the game yet and didn't know about the timed event. Then you have the gallery sharing issue too. If a player did get the items, any builds or sims they create using those items that they want to share with others on the gallery will not work right or not be the same for the players that didn't get the items. So it doesn't seem like a great idea to permanently make those items unavailable after the time deadline. Not to mention EA misses out on more money, because seeing cool builds you want to use on the gallery that use certain DLC encourages players to buy that DLC to make that build or sim look more like the original made by the person on the gallery.

I think maybe an early access purchase option would be better instead. That way you can give the early buyers their item bonus, and then at a later date you come out with the items for those that hadn't been playing yet, or couldn't get them in time.

I think in a game like this where there is a big focus on creation of builds and sims for sharing on the gallery for others to play with and use too, that having the ability to purchase all the items is pretty important to the game attraction. There is a huge number of players that continue to buy DLC and support/advertise the game for EA by creating things for the gallery for others to use. So permanently losing access to items used in that creation due to a time limit seems like it's not in EA's best interest to keep their customers happy and to bring new ones in.

I know in my own case, I am disabled and on a limited income, so I often have to save money for something that is $40-50. Also, sometimes I am not playing the game for a couple months and I don't know about a new release of content. Unfortunately, I was very sick for a few months when the Highschool Years DLC bonus item purchase time limit was going on. By the time I found out about it, it was 3 days after the time limit and I was unable to get them. It sort of ruins the experience now when I see all these cool builds people make on the gallery with the items that I won't be able to experience myself. Not to mention all the builds I want to make that could be amazing with them too.

The funny thing is that a friend that plays the game too mentioned that there is custom content from modders of the game that make those bonus items for players to use if they miss out. So if similar content gets put out through mods anyways, why wouldn't you give access to the players that are dedicated to the base game and don't use mods or those on consoles that can't use mods?
