older saves won't open with or without mods

i wasn't on my computer for months as i thought it was broken. i came back and updated everything- drivers, the sims, EA, all of my mods. saves prior to my hiatus refuse to launch regardless of whether or not i have mods enabled. i've repaired the game twice, taken out mods, deleted the localthumbcache file, etc. the family still will not open and i get the error code "110:bf763c50:5be15d6" every time. the lastexception file gives me a bunch of errors for sims i have never played, who i believe are all teens. the file is attached. i've compared the lastexception file to previous files where mods were still in and they look roughly the same, or at least the error is consistent.

  • joshneku snakesandwhales Where does the game stop and give the error? i.e.  Won't load at all, Crashes on Main Menu - Resume or Load, world map, on lot load attempt?  Can you take households to CAS?

Have you created a new user folder and moved your save into that and tested?

You said you thought your computer was broken.  What did you think was broken and why?  Have you transferred your game save files between hard drives and/or SSDs, USB drives, etc. at any time before or after you thought it was broke?

    Hope this helps.

the error occurs whenever i load into the save. after that, i'm sent to the map. i pick out a household to play and the error generates again. edit: i tried taking them into CAS and they do indeed load in CAS. i tried an older save from early 2023 and they load into game and in CAS just fine.

i reinstalled the game and the issue has stayed the same. i let the game regenerate files and put the old saves into the new folder.

my computer breaking was a separate issue. i have a specific model of rog zephyrus that is notorious for having issues. it has broken once before and refused to turn on. when we repaired it the first time, the issues weren't yet known. the second time around, they sent it back to us because they don't work on the specific model anymore. it randomly turned back on 8 months later. i mentioned this because i felt mentioning 8 months away was necessary. i was having no issues with the game 8 months ago, only when i updated the game recently. i updated mods, my computer, drivers, etc. i haven't transferred anything.

  • joshneku  Thanks.  The reason I asked about the hardware issues was because files can be corrupted when you access or transfer them when you have a hardware problem i.e. a computer component s failing but not dead yet.  Doesn't sound like that's your problem.

Now, there are a lot of issues going on for about the last year or so with save files corrupting.  What you described are the main symptoms - keep getting booted to the map or world screen when trying to load a lot.  Even if you can get into a lot, it might have disappeared and/or all the other lots in the zone look like they did out of the box (default state).  The bug fix team is working on the issue but there seems to be many causes, so it is taking them a lot of time to fix the issue.  The only advice or suggestions I can offer you at this point is to salvage what you can from your save and start a new one or play an older version of the save if you have it.  There is no guarantee that it won't happen again though.  Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.  You can read more about the problem in the master bug thread here:  Neighboring Houses show as Default/Empty | EA Forums - 11903590

    Hope this helps.

  • HI joshneku

could you please either upload your LastException files to google or oneDrive or copy/paste the content ?

You can 't upload them here
