Ongoing "For Rent" Rent Pricing Issues — Unplayable as Landlord or Tenant

Hi all,
I’ve been experiencing a persistent issue with The Sims 4: For Rent that has made the pack nearly unplayable for me. I purchased and installed the pack over a year ago, and while the issues were always present, they’ve now worsened and I’m completely stuck.

Here's a breakdown of what's happening:

As a Landlord:
When setting rent prices via the residential rental lot, I can input the amount just fine.
However, once a household moves in, the rent automatically drops to 5 simoleons max, regardless of what I set.

As a Tenant (in a residential rental owned by another sim I control):
If I move a sim into a rental lot owned by another of my sims:
Rent always shows as 0 simoleons, even if I’ve just adjusted the rent with the landlord sim.

While playing as the tenant household:
I still receive eviction notices for not paying rent, despite no option to pay (since rent is 0).
Eventually, my sims are forcefully evicted even though it’s not possible to pay the nonexistent rent.

Previous Workaround (No Longer Working):
I used to:
Play as the landlord, fill the rental unit with temporary sims,
Then use “Manage Households” to transfer my desired sims into the unit and remove the others.
This workaround helped bypass the rent issue temporarily, but now it no longer works at all. No matter what I do, the rent defaults to 0 or 5 simoleons and my sims can’t be charged or pay proper rent.

What I’ve Tried:
Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
Played mod-free (no CC or script mods).
Attempted troubleshooting via EA Support Live Chat — unfortunately, no solution was found.

This issue has been ongoing since day one of owning this pack. I had really hoped future patches would address it, but nothing has changed. It’s incredibly frustrating to spend money on a pack that simply does not function as advertised.

Has anyone else encountered this and found a solid fix or workaround? Is this a known bug being addressed?

Any help would be appreciated — I just want to be able to play the game the way it was intended.

Thanks for reading

  • Regarding the 5 simoleons issue, I found a thread that addressed the issue but doesn't work. If you evict the tenants, replace 1-2 furnishings while its vacated and go back to the landlord (active household) the max rent does change to a number you'd expect.

However, once you go back to the tenant as your active household the bills information is still 0.

  • Work around is pressing CTRL Z but I don't know why this is happening.

    Hi StuStuie

As this report contains multiple bugs and we may already have active dedicated bug report threads opened for them here "Compiled list of reported issues" this thread has been closed.

If there isn't an active thread dedicated to each of the bugs you're experiencing in the link above, please go ahead and create a new bug report, one per each individual bug after testing if the issues persist after removing any mods/cc. That way, we can track things easier and provide relevant information regarding the specific bug.
