Platform: why not recognized for a part of the room. And so on. (Build/Buy Mode)

In this bug report, @SheriGR asked me about the creation of the platform, so I move here for answer, because I think that it is different from the direct content of that bug report.
This started with a post about not being able to place patterns on the ceiling (currently a bug report is already created).
I hope that this thread will be a place to exchange opinions about issues in build using Platform.

@SheriGR

You asked me:
I wonder if the game is seeing the platform as it's own separate room when uploaded within another room... but I am not sure what triggers this in the cases of the rooms you mention. In the case of the rooms where your platforms are deleted, do they butt up against a wall, or did they originally butt up against a wall when the room was made? There are a number of issues that doing this seems to cause. Also, was the room made via a workaround to get the wall to stay next to the platform? (I've experimented in the past with issues with platforms against walls that users experienced. If memory serves, you can get the wall to stay if you draw the wall then physically move it over to place it next to the platform... but when doing this you don't have a 'sealed'/official room.)

But, even now, I still can't image of the situation you described correctly.
So, I will show you how I make a room with a stepped floor by using images.
Those are images from when I renovated the house in Crick Cabana.

If you change the height of the floor while keeping the shape in the red frame, the edges of the Platform Trims will protrude and become an obstacle. (This is also one of the issues with the platform.) And since it is not fine in appearance, this part is cut off. Then build a wall and pull it.

Build a wall on the protruding part and raise the height of the floor of the protruding part.
After raising the floor to the desired height, remove the wall.

I do it this way most of the time.
I had never made a stepped floor using the Platform tool.
However, I think you can create a ceiling even if you use this tool to create a space with a stepped floor.

I wonder why can't make ceiling?

Do you have the answer to what you asked me in this?

Addition:
This bug report presents an issue where the roof is missing when building a platform.

The ceiling in your image attached there can be made in the same way. For that room with only the Platform in the middle, use the Top Down View and click where the Platform is, and you'll see the Build Ceiling yellow frame. But this is definitely a hassle.

    Thank you for your kind words.
    Now that the subject is no longer Sims 4, I think I'll close this thread.

    @SheriGR

    I learned something new from your test results. It takes a lot of time to test. So please take care of yourself. When you're tired, you lose your ability to think. "You also need to give your brain a rest."

    @simsplayer818

    It is wonderful that you are able to create such a wonderful home even though there are many functions that cannot be used. I knew there were many inconveniences in playing on a console, but after talking with you here, I realized that it was more inconvenient than I thought. I sincerely hope that one day soon playing Sims 4 on console will be as comfortable as playing Sims 4 on PC.

    Lastly.
    Thank you both for a very enjoyable and meaningful time.
    Have a nice Sims life.

    @Pick-a-boo_doo Thanks for testing that. Unfortunately I can't access the video. But again I'm so impressed by the way things like this can be presented on PC and how well you've analysed it all.
    I made the living room and bathroom platforms the same way and the lot was created around 6 or 7 months ago for my mermaid but at the time I didn't notice anything. It's the new ceiling coverings that alerted me to it and made me think to test it while we were discussing this current issue.
    It's funny you mention getting some rest, I honestly dreamed about this last night (not a great sleeper with a back problem). I kept having dreams about Sims ceilings and platforms! I think it's because I've looked at it from so many angles and found it quite confusing I'll admit.
    But if I understand you correctly you mentioned a Sim being unable to walk into an unoccupied house? Am I getting that right? Because my Sims can never walk into an unoccupied house, I didn't think it was possible. They can only go into the garden. I get the message that says "Knock on Door" then a bubble that says "No one lives here". But I may be misunderstanding your point apologies if so.
    I'm expecting that the build experience on console will be getting fixes at some point as we've been in period of changes and ongoing kind of maintenance since January. We're in constant dialogue about it and all feedback is being taken no matter how small, I wasn't hopeful about it at the start of the year but it has had some improvements since. Some things that were fixed, broke again with the last patch but I know it's being looked at. We have actually asked for more dynamic controls to catch up with PC capabilities. For example we don't have the roofing options that PC has.
    Added to that, my game is behaving strangely in live mode as well since adding horses...but they are still so worth it!

    @Pick-a-boo_doo You are so sweet with your concern for @simsplayer818 and i! 🙂 You asked if we're getting enough rest, and you said something previously about calming down and not worrying or something similar...

    I wanted to put your mind at ease about something. You mentioned English is not your first language. We had exchange students in our home, and I know 'figures of speech' and culturally defined words or phrases can be very confusing. I was a bit worried that since both @simsplayer818 and myself used a such a phrase in this thread, that it may have been confusing.

    When we say "I'm Crying Uncle" in English, we don't actually mean we're crying, or that we are upset or sad, like the words seem to mean. When we say "I'm Crying Uncle" it actually means "I'm giving up" or I'm done because I feel I have tried everything and it's not fixed'. In a case like this in testing something, it's basically saying 'well, here is the testing I did... I didn't find a solution, but hopefully the tests will be helpful to EA or in someone else figuring out a workaround or a fix'.

    Anyway, you have been very kind and patient, and we both appreciate your thoughtfulness. 🙌

    @simsplayer818

    Maybe I got the link wrong.
    I replaced it with the newly acquired link.
    Can you see it now?

    Yes. With a PC, you can use various tools, and it's convenient. That's a big advantage.
    I hope the images and thoughts I have presented have helped you gather material for your issue on console.
    Ceiling paint. Ah, yes...
    Really this brought up an issue that I had been turning a blind eye to.
    I've also added a bug report about ceiling paint in the round room of a house I've built. A few people have already reported it.
    It's great to be able to paint on the ceiling, but it's a bit annoying when it doesn't work perfectly.

    Don't even think about bugs in your dreams. lol
    That's why I say "take a rest". For the sake of your brain.
    Nn? The translation app translated "take a rest" instead of "get some rest". Do the both of them have the same meaning?
    Doesn't it have a weird slang meaning? ?
    At times like this, I feel the language barrier.
    When I give a detailed explanation, I am at a loss for words to use.
    But it seems that about the empty house was correctly conveyed. it was good.
    Usually, what you describe happens.
    But this time it was different at Lagoon Look with Aqua Villa. It's really strange.
    I thought that the control sims could not enter the house, so I clicked on the deck in front of the kitchen door to make the control sims go through the deck around the house to the front of the kitchen door. I then selected "Go here" to instruct the control sim.
    Then, surprisingly, the control sim entered the house through the front door and tried to exit through the kitchen door.
    I stopped my sim in the kitchen, and after I finished taking some images etc., I clicked "Go Home", then my sim jumped off the deck into the ocean and headed for Rabbit Hole. (I couldn't record that the scene the Sim goes home, 'cause I was surprised. lol)
    I was able to see something interesting, thank you!
    Enjoy the new features and new worlds.
    It would be really nice if we could enjoy new things without being bothered by anything.

    @SheriGR

    Ahh. I'm sorry that I made you both worry.
    Yes, I complained a little in my reply to @simsplayer818, but there are many things that I can't quite grasp the meaning of in my native language sentences converted from English by a translation app.
    "I'm Crying Uncle"
    These words were translated literally. But the sentences in my native language were strangely funny and made me laugh a little.
    If I google it, it will give me some idea of what it means. But I can't think of an appropriate scene to use the word.
    And that applies to my writing as well.
    There are many things that are not properly expressed when I translate the phrases in my native language into English.
    This time, I was able to learn quite a lot by interacting with the two of you. thanks so much.
    For issues, I thought it would be nice to just share ideas here. However, it was difficult to explain it, or to understand what was explained, and it didn't go well.
    Although thanks for spending time for me.
    Thank you both for your patience and kindness.

    @Pick-a-boo_doo You are so welcome, and it has been my pleasure to chat with you and work on this! 🙂 @simsplayer818 and I have chatted and both think you've been so kind! You have a lovely day!

  • Absolutely agreed as @SheriGR  says @Pick-a-boo_doo you've brought such a cheerful and helpful attitude to a complicated problem. We may only get bits of it resolved but it's been like a little team effort working on it and that's what this forum is all about, it's why I get so much out of it. Your English is amazing too!

    @Pick-a-boo_dooAww, you too. You've made my day. I look forward to more discussions with you on other issues with our beloved game!

    Edit: after updating to console version 1.79.25 just on the issue of ceilings over platforms and my ceiling controls not working, both of these are now working for me.
