Problem with my teen-merman sim

I only noticed this problem a couple days ago, so I am not sure when it exactly started. I am having an issue with self-selecting my male teenage sims ONLY when he is in his mermaid form, the problem being it won't let me select him at all when I am playing as him. The pie menu doesn't even pop up. The weird part is, I have a female adult sim who is also a mermaid, and I have no issues with selecting her while she is in her mermaid form. I am only having problems with him.

I got rid of my all my mods to see if they were the issue, and I still cannot select him while in his mermaid form. I also tried repairing my game, and that has done nothing either. Any ideas?
