Promised things we still wait for

Sul-Sul! I apologize in advance, but I'm not exaggerating when I'm saying that we've been given too many empty promises by the game's developers. I have to say, though, that I like The Sims 4, it's my most played Sims game, but I don't want to ignore the things that we were told were being worked on. Here's a list of some of them:

1. Proper Black Hairstyles. Do you remember when the new black swatch was added? The devs had shown us some examples during a livestream and they specifically said that the new black hair color might not look consistent for the time being since it was applied to a batch of hairs simultaneously, but they said they would go through the hairstyles and update the colors to make them look properly black. It's been over 1.5 years, and dozens of hairstyles look super gray with the "new" black swatch. The point of the update was to provide us with a swatch that would make our Black Sims not have to suffer from the old blue-ish swatch, but the update didn't fix the issue since the new swatch basically looks gray with most of the hairstyles. There's a bug report thread on this, search "Black Hair looking gray/blue on several hairstyles".

2. Likes and Dislikes for All Packs. Likes and Dislikes are a decent addition, but we were told that we would get them for all the packs by a game developer on Twitter. There's a bug report thread that is also 1.5 years old and I don't see any missing likes and dislikes being added.

3. Wants and Fears. Again, just like with Likes and Dislikes, we were told we would get Wants and Fears for the older packs too, but it wasn't the case. Funnily enough, we had Whims for all the packs up to Seasons, but Maxis didn't convert them into Wants and Fears and it's not cool. Years of content simply unused. We need Wants and Fears for all packs starting Outdoor Retreat.

4. Townie Overhaul. A quote from a Maxis representative dating August 2021: We’re currently in the process of updating NPC’s in The Sims 4, including visuals as well as their lore. This will take some time to accomplish as we have to spend some quality time with each and every single Sim from Willow Creek to Henford-on-Bagley. That means we are taking in step by step, or townie by townie, and we’re excited to update you at a later date. We only got an update for the Goths (Alexander looks creepy when aged up to teen though) and haven't heard a single thing regarding the overhaul since then. Is the overhaul still being worked on?

Please, update us on these features. Provide us with the transparency you wanted to bring us. Sul-Sul!

@KateN251 , I think the reason it is so hard for black hair to not have a blue or gray cast in the game is that normally truly black hair doesn't have highlights the way many other hair colors have. And when you try to replicate black hair in a video game it can come across looking flat and having no texture or detail. This isn't as much of a problem for some types of black hair, especially for strait hair (as I've seen some Asian people in real life who normally have straight hair look like as if it was a bluish-black color, though that could have just been the fluorescent lighting that made it look like that). But this is a huge problem for Black people who naturally have hair with a lot of texture, as it would be very difficult to show the detail and texture of their hair without the use of some other color in a video game.  I'm not saying it can't be done, but that I think that it is difficult to make it look more realistic and that it might be whatever program or whatever the developers are using.  But I'm not computer savvy enough to say for sure, only that I can see how it might be difficult to do it accurately.  They could use brown highlights to show the texture of the hair, but then there is the risk of making the hair look too light, so that wouldn't be the answer if that is the case. 😓  They finally got some great hair textures for afro-textured hairstyles in the game😀, and they would not want to hide that! 😯😢 I hope they can figure it out! 🤞

Also, I was really confused that they just stopped with the Whims after Seasons came out, and even more confused that they just abandoned all packs prior to High School Years when the Wants & Fears system replaced the Whims system! 😰😵  Like you said, If they were going to change the system, they should have converted all those Whims from the base game to Seasons into Wants, and made new Wants for all the packs in between Seasons and HSY, as well as adding Fears for all Expansions Packs and Game Packs!!  Or if they didn't want to do that, at least resume the old Whims from Seasons to HSY! 🤦‍♀️😢
