Re: Add hearing aids and implants

@Zasz_Zerg Not everyone can or wants to use cc. I am not particularly comfortable using it because of bad experiences I’ve had with modding and cc in other games plus you’d have to update that everytime there’s a patch etc most of time. I understand as far as the wheel chairs and canes go that it would mean new animations which might not be easy/possible but for the other things I really don’t see why it would be an issue to implement. Prosthetics could be a compromise for not having wheelchairs. We already have servos and they have mechanical type legs and arms. Also why does it NEED gameplay? Don’t those with disabilities deserve to create themselves too? The same way that I can put glasses on my sim self. Sure it doesn’t change gameplay but it adds to storytelling and realism. Also we already have earbuds in fitness stuff and heterochromia in cats and dogs. We know heterochromia can exist because of pets so why not extend that to sims? Earbuds/headphones could be modified to become implants/hearing aids maybe..?

I see no harm in suggesting/wanting these things to be actually implemented and I know there are others who want at least some of them. I’m not the first person to mention top surgery scars and heterochromia.

also werewolf scars are a start but we still could use more. Plus I’d love a vampire fang bite scar for my vampires (it already exists in game it’s just temporary and not available in cas. That one would take next to no work as they’ve already done the visuals for it)

but other scars (and some more light scars) would be really nice.

You never get if you don’t ask.

I agree with most of what you said.

As for those who can use CC but refuse to use it to get what they want, dont complain. Console users are completely cut off from such things. Its just not a good idea to play games like sims on console for various reasons.

I dont agree with the "bad experiences with modding and CC in OTHER games" part. Each game is different when it comes to these things. I know, I mod several games too. I use alot of CC for my sims and around 50 build mode CC items. CC rarely breaks in Sims 4 and its easily detected if one breaks. There are ways to make it easy to find and replace broken CC and mods. The most complex mods usually break with every patch and usually are updated within days. This predictability is actually beneficial. And its very easy to replace them. I have simple mods that are several years old and survived every patch. Just for clarification.

Nobody suggested there is harm in suggesting these things nor that those suggestions are unpopular.

As a glasses user I can say it has no impact on how I do things. Glasses only for reading or driving would have an impact. But then we might consider adding animations for taking off hats too. A prostetic has a huge impact. Thats why one should add to gameplay in some way and the other does not.

The vampire bite scar is an example to illustrate why we dont get certain things like disability features. The devs dont know how to properly implement such things.

@Zasz_Zerg I would never play sims on console but some people can’t afford to have both a gaming laptop and a console and I’d argue most games play better on console unless your playing minecraft or sims.

also some people have laptops which can only really handle the base game.

I know my personal thing against mods and cc is super irrational (I recently managed to get over the fear slightly and install my first sims mod MC commands) and am working on it but I understand people being cautious. Not all of us understand coding and know what we are putting into our game. Plus the amount of sketchy looking cc websites out there are scary. Then there was also that whole thing where creators were putting trackers in the files to see who was avoiding their permanent paywalls which is kinda messed up.

Also mods shouldn’t be a thing you NEED in order to have a good gameplay experience so I would argue that people should stop saying “modders will fix it” when it comes to this game. The sims team probably needs to just hire some of its game’s modders or meet up with a bunch of them and collaborate at this point.

I don’t think you should be so judgemental towards people who don’t use mods or who play on console. Just saying.

Console vs. pc controls and hardware requirements are a very different topic.

Congrats on overcoming your fear. Its always a good idea to be cautious. There are some coders who do bad things. But they are a minority. Having access to a decent sims discord with news and updates and experienced players helps alot. They usually dont recommend any of the bad modders.

We dont need mods. But we can have them and they greatly improve gameplay. But some are almost necessary because they can fix things until the devs fix them.

There is a difference between judgy and criticizing people for irrational positions. I wont stop doing either. Because I can.
