Re: ARGH ALIENS!!!!!!! *shakes fist*

Game, NO.

I'm not even with you right now.

I am NOT populating this save exclusively with aliens!  I know I have an alien in the household (his son-in-law's child-aged daughter that everyone is helping raise). I know that we have alien plants and mother and daughter explored space today (we're doing collections). I know that out of 6 played households (excluding my "spouse farms" that I don't really play), 4 have at least one alien* (two adult aliens from abductions who've moved out on their own into two households, two recent abductions in two households--yeah, I aged up Octavia and moved her out, into a San Myshuno apartment with her bestie, so her dad could get married).  That does NOT mean that the next generation will consist entirely of aliens!

Are you listening to me?

Apparently the answer to that is NO, you are NOT listening to me.

(I've often felt that the game does more of what you seem to allow, such as if you have parents do flashcards with toddlers and help children and teens with homework, parents will autonomously do flashcards with toddlers and help children and teens with homework. Ditto for if you have a lot of babies they get a lot of whims for babies. If your Sim has a near-death brush with cold or fire the game will throw more cold or fire at you. But... NO.)

Yeah, I used MCCC to clear that. NO.

* If you're curious, the other two households are 100% vampire and 100% mermaid.

You don’t want it but the game wants it specially Caleb! Hmm, I have a question. If you go in CAS and under Custom Gender Setting and change it to the Sim will be able for: Neither. Get there still pregnant if the sims get abducted? Maybe this would be a solution for a vanilla player which love the Scientist career.

    That's a great idea, @daikoyu!

I know from a friend and from a hundred baby thing I watched on YouTube that aliens will absolutely abduct men who are set to be able to get pregnant, so I don't know what affect "neither" would have.  Hmmm.

I think for vanilla players in the Science career, your best bet is to use the satellite dish to just keep the aliens from abducting your Sims in the first place. You can interrupt the abduction sequence if you'd rather not go thru with it by doing a Reset Sim on your Sim before they get outside to the light shining down from the UFO.

I am curious about that Neither setting in CAS idea, but I suspect the Alien pregnancy thing is tied to a Sim's gender, rather than whether or not they are able to normally get pregnant. If it was tied to the can/cannot get pregnant setting, then in theory a female Sim with edited settings could get impregnated by alien abductions and it seems like that is something EA wanted to avoid. It's definitely worth testing though.

For players who use mods, the best way to prevent Alien pregnancies might be to just disable the abductions with MC Occult (you can set the frequency of abductions to 0). That's what I use. I only allowed Alien abductions for my StrangerVille save because I already have 8 Sims in that household & since that's the limit, my Sims are safe from Alien pregnancies.

@RandomBuzziness  Can I change my accepted answer, lol?

I just set the alien pregnancy chance to 10% in MC Occult. Fine, you can abduct my Sims, and I actually like the cute little alien babies in moderation. In moderation. Not every household! If that's too much and annoys me I'll set it to 1%.

@xochiquetzl_xkvn When I had MC Occult set for a zero chance of alien abductions, I never saw any of the UFO's appear in my game. Prior to that, I had set the chance of alien impregnation to 0% for all ages and genders-- while still allowing the abductions themselves-- and I did in fact still get an alien pregnancy in my game. So, I'm not 100% that one is foolproof. I have no special knowledge of the MC Occult mod; these were just casual observations I made during game-play. I never did any extensive testing & even if I had, the mod has been updated many times since then, and any test results I might've gotten would probably be obsolete by now anyway.

    Welp.

It sounded promising, and a sample size of one abduction isn't much, but... terminating that again.  :P

The one thing you can do if you want a scientist but also can't or don't want to use mods is filling your house with pets if you have the pack. There won't be pregnancies if you already have a full house.

/and also from me: toggle please, thank you

Caleb's housemate/daughter-in-law was a scientist and should still have a satellite dish in her inventory. If not, she's unlocked it. We can make "prevent abductions" part of our daily routine along with the gardening, cleaning the chicken coop, checking the bee boxes, etc. (Caleb is married to a botanist.) Also, I'm moving the alien out. She's a YA, and I like her, and they like her, but I'm sick of terminating alien pregnancies.

I just looked. Daughter-in-law has 3 satellite dishes. One goes on the roof! I love the alien TV channel anyway. LOL!

I had some vague idea that I wanted to leave household slots open in case Caleb wanted another child, but... filling up the household slots with pets has occurred to me, too. When his daughter-in-law was doing the animal aspiration we did some rescues and sent a couple of pets to live with her kids, so we could bring them back. Or her Servo can move back in. Or...

Can there be an option added in "game options" to disable abductions and vampires trying to infect others?

Like how weather effects can be disabled in game options?

  • @stormsai The toggle idea you are talking about would be the most effective honestly, so I agree with you. I like vampires, but not the "forced pregnancy" from GTW... it's..."insulting" to say the least. Thank you for bringing it up.
