Re: Can you check weather in other worlds?

@wahini2024

I don't think there is a way to do that but I agree, it's not fun when you go somewhere like a festival or vacation and it is raining or snowing.  So to deal with that, you could do what I did.

Most of the places I go like that, land on a community type lot when you travel.  So I placed a Doctor June's weather machine on at least one community lot in the zones that I go to a lot so I can change the weather to clear when I get there.  Then when I do arrive and it's raining or snowing, the first thing I do is change the weather.

For vacations in Granite Falls and Selvadorada, I have one on the rental lot that I use the most in each place.  I also placed one on the market lot in Salvadorada and the Ranger Station in Granite Falls state park.  In Selvadorada, you can also place one on the Trailhead lot.  You have to place them before you go since you can't edit those lots once your sims are there.

The weather machine weather change will sort of wear off over time so if you stay long enough at any one place, you might have to change the weather again later but for the most part, I usually only have to do it once for most places.

So that's a way to control the weather so you can avoid having your sims wet and miserable when you want to attend the CL festivals and enjoy their vacations.

Hope this helps.

  • @CGrant56 I didn't even know there was a weather machine 😅 is it in build/ buy or is it an unlock type machine?

I made most of my sims water proof through rewards but I can't do that for my toddlers and usually not kids either and if I travel with others who aren't water proof they're miserable.
If I can I'll travel to worlds to check the weather then travel back and grab the family but that's not even foolproof at times.

So do I need this machine on just frequented lots and it will change the full world or just that area of the world? Like would turning the weather to sunny in the spice district also make it sunny over in the arts district kinda thing?

Just look for the weather machine in regular build buy.  It is always unlocked.  I don't have my game running atm, but I believe it is in the activities and skill section of the catalog where the telescope and microscope are.  And you could just search for the Seasons pack and you should be able to find it easily.

It only affects the zone where you install it so say, if you put one in the spice district, it only affects that zone.  The arts district would have whatever weather is current in that world and would be unaffected.  It can be upgraded too so you can even change the season if you want or affect the weather for the entire season.  So just place one on a lot somewhere and take a look at what the options are, then you can decide what it is you want to do.

If you use it to change the season, that does impact the entire game.  So if it winter and you change the season to summer, it will be summer everywhere.  Otherwise, all the other changes are local.

One thing though, if you place one on your home lot and use it to change the weather, the changes won't hold if you travel away and the weather will be whatever is normal for that world.  When you return, you will need to change the weather again.  For instance, when I play in Brindleton Bay, I always change the seasonal weather to dry so I don't get so much rain and snow.  Every time I travel, even to another lot in that world or zone, I have to reset it when I get back home.

    Hope this helps.

  • Awesome! Thank you so much @CGrant56

I'll be sure to check that this evening if I can jump on the game and get the weather a wee bit more manageable! It would be a lot easier if we could access the calendar of every world but this is a little better so I can just ... change it and not have to wait for the rain to stop 😊

@CGrant56  Agreed. I went to Granite Falls a couple of months ago and it was almost non-stop thunderstorms. Real downer holiday, that.

I was just chatting about this on another thread but I just turn off rain in my game altogether. I hate rain, we've just had a complete washout of a summer here 😔. I stare at the Sims and ignore the view from my window just to see some sunshine!
