Re: Cant eat or sleep

@Riyasen What happens when you try? Is there a pathing error (Sim waves indicating they can’t access something), or do they go to bed but immediately get up again, or does it not add to the queue at all?

With the bed she just gets up again yes. With the food it shows the image that she cant access something, even if i put it in her inventory or right below her feet.

@Riyasen For sleeping - does she have another need in the red (hunger, possibly, since she can’t eat)? Sometimes a Sim won’t sleep if they’re too hungry or smelly or need to pee, and you have to take care of the other need first.

For eating - that does sound odd. Have you tried with different foods? What happens if you put the food on a table and have her sit down first, or even put a single serving of food directly into her inventory?

For sleeping yeah, she doesnt have any other needs in red when i try making her sleep.

With food i admit ive tried only hamburgers so far, but i did put a single serving into her inventory, put it in front of her, did make her go to the spot and then put it there and tried to get her to eat but no. If i lock her in the second building she shows she has no access to food, if i unlock the door, she takes the plate, but brings it over to the building from the gallery to actually eat.

There is nothing wrong with the hobbies though, i havent used bb.moveobject either during either of those builds so i have no idea what is wrong with her.

@RiyasenSounds like she really wants to sit in the other building to eat - that may be the routing error when the door’s locked, that she’s chosen somewhere she can’t actually access to eat and therefore can’t complete the action because she can’t go there. (Sims can be… not smart that way.) Did you make sure she has a nice comfy chair at a table in the hobby room? Are there any other Sims on the lot?

For the sleeping: you say you’ve already removed decor likes & checked for radios, and that she doesn’t have other needs in the red. If you don’t tell her to do anything after she gets out of bed, will she go anywhere or do anything autonomously? Or does she just stand there?

No other sims, but yes she has two tables along with chairs in the hobby building. But the eating is weird, normally if I just pick already built lot and remove the table, she either sits on the bed or eats while standing, so its not like its impossible. The fact she cannot even take it out of her inventory while the door is locked is weird. The fact she cant sleep in the other building is also very strange. I wonder if I should just give up and leave the bed and eating in the gallery building, but thats such a waste of time just walking lol, since when does it take half an hour to go down single set of stairs :D

@Riyasen Unfortunately, sometimes it’s not that an action is impossible without an object, it’s that since the object does exist on the lot the sim has decided to include it in their queued action; then when they discover that particular object isn’t actually accessible they drop the action with a routing error rather than just choose a second best option. Before For Rent, people trying to build apartments using the basic door locking functionality would often run into this when sims would insist on trying to use the other apartment’s stove, for example, rather than their own.

Where does she try to go eat if the door is unlocked?

@Riyasen What’s the comfort level on the Gallery house kitchen’s chairs compared to the ones in the hobby room? And what if you delete the Gallery house’s table and chairs?

Comfort  is: Hobby house chairs: 6 and 7   Gallery house chairs: 8
Hobby House bed: 10   Gallery house bed: 10
If I remove dining table, she moves to bar stools, (if I tell her to get leftovers from the hobby fridge, she goes to gallery house fridge). If i remove bar stools, she goes to sofas in front of the TV. If I remove that she goes to the sofa/bench near the pool, which both have lower comfort level than the gallery house since theyre at lvl 6. If i remove those, she doesnt go to sit on the bed to eat, she just stands in front of the fridge. What Ive achieved now after removing everything along with the art decor and blah blah balh is that  if I remove the gallery house completely, she can now eat in the hobby house, but still cant sleep in it, despite no music source being nearby.

Forgot to add, even though she can eat in the hobby house with the gallery house removed now, she stands in front of the fridge, doesnt go to any of the tables with chairs in hobby house.

@Riyasen She does seem stubborn! I'm leaving for church soon, but I'll keep thinking about this and in the meantime perhaps someone else will have an idea.

For the sleep issue - I'd edited a previous post to try to ask earlier, but I'm pretty sure we ended posting posting simultaneously so you would have missed it. When she gets back out of bed, if you let her be does she autonomously do anything or go anywhere? Or does she just stand there?

Haha thank you for your time, even while u go to church! I really appreciate it! And ur right, I did miss the edit. If I leave her be, she stands around for a bit, and then aims it to the gallery house bed. If Gallery house bed is gone, she just stands around, goes to play games on the pc in the hobby house, until she passes out.

@Riyasen  Okay, new plan. Want to share the lot on the gallery and let me (or others) take a look? See if we can figure out what’s going on by experimenting. 🙂

@RiyasenYou start the same way you would save to your library - go into build/buy and click save lot to library.

Then in the pop-up, make sure you give it a unique name, and click the share to gallery button in the bottom left corner (looks like a cloud). Then let us know your gallery username (is it still riyasen?) and the name of the lot.

@RiyasenOkay, this was a challenging one! Major kudos to @JonaO703 and @CGrant56 for their help troubleshooting this with me.

    What we discovered:

    1. The "Moderne Event Speakers" from HSY appears to wake Sims up even when supposedly off. Remove this, and your Sim should be able to sleep in the bed.

    2. For some reason, the "Get Leftovers" command seems to prefer a stove to be present. Add a stove upstairs (or just grab quick meals) and your Sim should stop going to the downstairs fridge.

    3. There isn't a dining table upstairs. Add a table and chair, and your Sim should choose to eat there when they get food from the upstairs fridge.

UU she does walk through the stove when she eats for some reason but otherwise it all works now, thank you very much! Im sure it wasnt easy!
