Re: Mermaids swim like human sims when I'm not actively playing them.

What lots exactly do you see the mermaids swimming? I find that at public beaches they’ll swim like humans, but in the ocean not connected to any particular lot, they’ll swim like mermaids. Sometimes you won’t see them swim in mermaid form until they admit to being one with the “ask if mermaid” interaction, or if your sim is also a mermaid. Kinda hard to tell if it’s a bug or an intentional “hide your occult identity” thing.

@Nightside-Rush Wow that's weird! In my game mermaids don't swim like mermaids unless i'm playing their household ☹️ It sucks because it seems like I'm the only one with that exact problem.

@crinrict It seems that they do :\.

@vreavyn Would you mind sending me your save ? Instructions in my signature .. Like to check something

There's a bug with high fitness but they do have tails, just swim weirdly and that also happens for active Sims

@crinrict there's the normal townies to test out just go to sulani. Test with Nalani, Ukupanipo and Kalamainu'u townies. Also it's probably going to work on your computer since for some reason I think this is only linked to my game on my computer.

@vreavyn Did the Sim you're playing with discover them all as mermaids ? It's not enough that another Sims knowns about them

@crinrict I don't think the 'ask if mermaid' interaction is the reason why this glitch is happening, also I've created a mermaid and when i'm NOT playing their household they still swim as human sims. Is there an EA person that will help me resolve this issue or is this forum just for other players to give advice on how to fix bugs in the game??

@vreavyn To see them use the tail, the active Sim needs to know they are a mermaid. Undiscovered Mermaids tend to hide themselves.

If you want to talk to EA you can contact customer support via Live Chat. AHQ is player help player

EDIT: Tested your save some more and I NPCs to have tails if I play a mermaid myself. Does that also not work for you ?

@Nightside-Rush That's what I thought, too. The whole point of mermaids is, that they hide themselves. Even if you know that one is a mermaid, they might choose to go in disguise nonetheless when other Sims could show up at any moment like on the beaches. And it makes sense that they go in mermaid form once you are actively playing them as you have more control over when to travel or who is entering your lot. Really hard to tell if this is a glitch or by design.

@vreavynI think your issue is the normal mermaid design. When you change the played household, even your self-created mermaids become normal NPCs and hide their tails until you befriend them and pose the mermaid question. If this was different, it would be impossible to create normally behaving mermaids via Manage Worlds.

@alanmichael1 Okay so I've just tested this and you're right! I don't like the fact that you're forced to become 'best friends' with them instead of at least just 'friend' relationship. But once I become best friends with just one mermaid then I can see all NPC mermaids 🙂
