@Trismagistos  You are correct about the weather effects still impacting the Sim. Sims will still freeze in cold weather and overheat when it is hot. 
I have experienced Sims nearly dying (one did) from freezing to death inside a house next to a lit fireplace.  💔
A single wall with a thermostat should be helpful.  My habit is to turn off effects on Sims under Seasons options.
I can still have weather without Sims dying.
