Re: Sims 4 lot glitch creates blob over lot in map view

@Cropdusster

Ok, downloaded the lot and tested it.  You did a nice job with the appearance of the lot, but it does have some problems I found.

The good news is you can make the blob go away if you bulldoze the lot so no lasting harm to your save.  You can also install the lot from your Library as unfurnished and the blob goes away so you can save the build.  I couldn't figure out what the blob is other that it is an object since it disappeared when I install the lot unfurnished.  I saved all the rooms to my Library and reinstalled them one by one, going to map view after each room was placed, trying to figure out which room is causing the blob thinking it would reappear when the room it was in was reinstalled.  Didn't happen so I'm at a loss as to what it is and where it originates.  At least I got it to go away.  And my test sim could go on the lot and get around the zone.  Whatever the blob is, it was definitely blocking sim movement and with it gone, sims can move about.

Now the bad news.  I found several things that you did that are or could be problems.  The biggest issue is that you built the lot on a platform instead of a foundation.  Imo, platforms aren't meant to be used that way as it causes all sorts of weird problems.  If you want to use platforms, they should be placed on top of a raised foundation to work properly.  When I placed the 1st floor rooms from my Library, the rooms placed at the ground elevation rather than the platform elevation so with MOO off, all the furniture disappears.  With MOO on, the furniture places but is sunken in the floor.  Changing the platform height doesn't do anything to help the problem either way, so the 1st floor rooms are unusable, and the lot won't work doing it that way.  So, the way to fix that is to raise the foundation, then lower the platforms, room by room to be even with the foundation.  Then you should be able to reinstall the rooms from your library without having to rebuild or refurnish the entire floor manually.  You'll also have to replace some stairs and a few objects that get wiped out when you do that too.  Not many though.

Hope this helps.

    You are an angel sent from heaven. I totally understand now. I usually do have platform problems but thought I was somehow mastering it / idk how the base got so messed up since it was originally platformed via salt house. Anyhow, thank you very much. Is there any way I can download your save from gallery and see what you did there? I am unable to copy the rooms / might be a little confused on the lowering concept overall if I was placing it unfurnished. I took the platforms away via unfurnished now I’m like, shucks how do I ..? Copy the rooms if it’s empty ? Cus I don’t know how to save room by room I guess so I have it empty and walkable but no room to copy. Im stump. Let me know if that’s okay. Maybe I’m not as tech as I thought. Appreciate you saying the restaurant looked nice btw :’) Thanks again!!

    Sorry, I didn't save anything when I finished testing the lot so nothing to upload.  I did save the lot you uploaded but that was it.  No rooms, etc.

    You'll be saving the rooms from the lot you uploaded, and I tested, as the first thing to do.  Saving rooms is pretty easy.  It's the same button at the top where you save a lot to your Library.  There are two buttons that drop down there.  The top one is to save the entire lot and the lower one is to save a room.  Just click on the floor in a room to get the room outline to show, then hit the save room button.  You will need to name the room then you can hit the Save to Library button on the lower right.  So, save all the rooms, then bulldoze the lot.  Then, install the lot again but choose unfurnished when you do.

    Once you've got the unfurnished lot placed, then the next step is to get a foundation.  Just click on the floor of any room on the lowest floor so the room outline appears.  There will be a double headed arrow in the center.  Just grab that and drag it up and the foundation will appear.  To get the platforms down to the foundation elevation, just select a room and use the platform arrows (on the left of where you choose wall height) to drop the platform down a click at the time until the top is even with the foundation top.  You'll have to do it for every room.  Once that is done, then start installing the rooms from your Library.  They install pretty much like a lot, but you have to choose where they go in the build.   After that, it is just a matter of placing the objects that didn't transfer.  The fountain and ground lights and the stairs are the most obvious missing items but there will probably be a few other things.  You would know what's missing better than me since you built the lot.

    If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

    Hope this helps.

    @CGrant56 I super super appreciate you. That does help A LOT. I wish I had known about the room feature; sometimes it amazes me how much I learn even after playing for 15 years hahaha.
    When I’m done I’m gonna give a big shouts to ya <3 thank you again!!
