It appears that your Sims do not own the house but are visiting the lot. From the Phone you select to move household and select the house you built.

- @jpkarlsen It says that my sims are already the current residence of the household. So apparently I own it but it's just a matter of getting in?

You do not click the door to go in the house only to knock when visiting other Sims.
Press Page down (or click the Go Down button) until you are on the ground level of the house. Then click anywhere inside to walk in.
I'm already on ground level. This is what I see when I try to click inside the house, nothing shows and the action is cancelled.
Hello, I did notice a hanging plant was near the door also sometimes causes a issue. Maybe move it to the other side for now. Just to trouble shoot it.. I am sure you have changed out the door too. My suggest is try the manage worlds, go to the lot and save to the library. Once you are sure saved to the library, bulldoze lot. add house back. Return to game and see your sims is okay to enter.Or try a different lot with the house and move you sims to the new one. May need extra fund when moving you know.

The screenshot you took with the map is not what you see when you live at that lot.. this is what I see when I live at a lot on map view. I can also see inside the house, since I own it.Not just a floor , that is what you see when you do not live there. Have you tried to move to another house to see if you get the same result?
The mentioned screenshot was from the move screen. not the map.
Do you have any Mods or CC? If so move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.Notice that there will be a major update June 2. you may want to delay putting any mods or CC back until they have been updated for this patch.
