Regarding the aging bug/fix

Despite the fix for the aging bug, I've been hearing/reading different things. 1. the fix was only for new saves. Is this true or does it apply to existing saves as well? If it doesn't apply to existing saves, how can I make sure those saves remain playable even when on Short or Long lifespan without the bug (I have a Short Lifespan legacy that I've been playing for years, I can't recreate it in a new save without losing lots of family relations and whatnot which are impossible to retrieve even with the use of mods). I've also read that apparently you can fool the game into thinking it's a new save when you Save As an existing save instead of the normal Save option??? Does this actually work?? (because that might be a solution for my Short Lifespan legacy save, because I haven't touched it since the aging bug popped up thanks to the HSY patch/update). 2. apparently EA changed the length of the individual life stages? What are the number of days now per life stage per lifespan? thanks!

    Yes, the bug is fixed.

If you use MCCC; MCCC edit the lifespan and has still the old aging setting. So it can be that you maybe get the wrong aging setting.

No, ever save is fixed which not was saved with the bug in. So, if you have a backup before the aging bug patch (1.90.358.1030) it should work fine. My save before this patch are not effected and working just fine. // I generally use only save as… but I know your game create a back up save if you save over, so maybe there you have a save which is not affected?

If you google sims 4 aging the first entry should Life stage The Sims Wiki – Fandom, there you have the new aging.

  • @daikoyu So if I understand correctly I can still play my Short Lifespan Legacy save without encountering the bug? I haven't played it for 2 months at least (been busy playing with the new packs), so it should still be ok? And regarding the aging: EA only changed the lifestages of Normal Lifespan? Since Short & Long lifespan still look the same...

  • @daikoyu I had already fixed MCCC for Normal Lifespan but with all the conflicting stories on social media I wasn't sure whether the life stages of Short & Long were changed too... (maybe that'll still happen in the future since EA said the bug-fix was just the first implementation of a series of updates)... but thanks for your reassurance!!!

According to the tuning files and the experiments of some people short lifespan has also been changed (this is not yet reflected in the mentioned Fandom article). Toddlers now only have 3 days and YA and A 11. This really sucks and I still refuse to play my short lifespan legacy since I assume this was not intentional and hope that they fix it. At least it does not make sense at all to shorten short lifespan, while normal is made longer...

If they don't fix it I fear I will have to mod the lifespan, but I would very much like to avoid that, since aging mods seem not the best idea currently...

I also experienced this bug: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-age-up-go-back-in-age-on-first-load-days/td-p/11693048 So unfortunately the ages of my Sims are totally wrong when I load my old backup save ☹️ (interestingly they were fine between the patches, so it must have been something in the "fix").

I would really like to know if it's similar for you. There seem not to be so many short lifespan players around here (although it seems some long lifespan players get younger Sims than they should).

Just always keep your old backup if you're testing something!

@flauschtrud for the time being I'm still leaving my Short Lifespan Legacy alone... I have several back-ups from before the HSY pre-release update from that save and I'm not touching them until EA either comes with a permanent fix or explains what the hell they're doing with the number of days of each lifestage in each lifespan...

@107531kop that's exactly what I'm thinking at the moment, although the waiting is killing me.
I can't understand why changes like that are not communicated properly...

It's not fixed. As soon as I turn ageing on they all age up instead of living out their lifespans. The fix needs to apply to all existing saves or EA should be dishing out refunds.

I am also waiting for my legacy LP the 7th gen is now toddlers, this was before the aging bug. As soon as I heard this I took out that LP and put it aside in another folder waiting till it was safe...Glad I am not the only one who still wants to wait .
