Roommates always mean to pets?

Has anyone had any luck getting a roommate that isn't constantly mean to their pet?

I've tried to have three roommates, and all three have made it their goal to be mean to the cat, almost constantly. Is it worth it to try another roommate? Do I need to find one that loves pets? How do I get them to just not be constantly going to the cat to yell at it for no good reason?

  • @home8896 Hmmm... I had several roomies and I never noticed any being mean to the dogs. Perhaps it could be a cats thing though? We can see if others add information to that effect. You could 'get to know' the roomies to find out if they have bad traits (mean, evil, etc.).

You could even hover over them to find their name then hunt them down in 'other households' to find out their traits. In the future when you have 'Potential Roommates' come over you can try introducing yourself and 'get to know' them, and just make sure they don't have any bab traits.

  • @SheriGR I may have to add the trait that lets me see their traits, because the option for "get to know" only appears once and then the potentials leave before that interaction comes back. Apparently my sim is terrible at getting to know them. I will see if I can find them off lot, though. I found one I knew was "good" and moved them in, and he's been good to the cat. It was just odd that the first three (one that was a "good friend" of my sim and always kind before asking to be a roommate) were mean so often.

@home8896 In the 'Rewards Store' there is a 500-point reward that one of my sims has - "Observant". He knows the traits of someone when he introduce themselves.Very handy. I send him out to make a 'friendly introduction' and I have the traits. 🙂

@home8896, I haven't played with both roommates and pets yet, so I hope this isn't a common thing! 🤒😠😢  I would try the suggestions that @SheriGR gave you.  But since there isn't a "hates pets" triat like there is a "hates children" trait, I would be on the lookout for "mean" and "evil" traits! 🤨

Thank you for mentioning this, as I will be on the lookout whenever I do play a household with both pets and roommates! 😇 Roommates are roommates, but pets are family! ❤️

Oh yes, definitely! The minute they started walking over and yelling at the cat, they were kicked out. 🙂 The college roommate one of the kids had - a guy named Courtney - has been a pretty good roommate. I'm going to get the observant trait anytime I'm about to get a roommate, though!

@home8896 You know who's been my best roomie? @EuphorialQueen 's Reese Cheung ("Never Too Late") https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/B2A69F4206A111EA804D2495E2BB44F7

I added her to the game (placed her from my library to a lot then evicted her to get her in the save's households), then put in the advertisement for a roommate and watched for her to walk by or show up from the ad.... and asked her to be the roommate. Then I 'favorited' her 'household' so it wouldn't get culled.

She bakes a lot of cakes, makes coffee, loves the gamepad, is social with the household and butler, and did by far the least of the quirky roommate stuff. 😉 And she was always good to the dogs and the to the toddler/child. She also loves if you make ice cream and leave it in the fridge. 🙂

My sims have a cat and roommates and I don’t notice them being mean to the cat. That said, my sims do have the observant trait and I won’t accept any as a roommate unless I know all their traits (and find them reasonable). Though I accidentally accepted one who doesn’t have the greatest traits (I seem to recall she is mean, or something similar) and I don’t notice her being mean to the cat either. But my sims also have the Incredibly Friendly reward trait (Outdoor Retreat is needed for that) so tend to become friends immediately, so not sure if that helps.

    Best regards,
