After some more testing, it doesn't look like mods are causing the issue, and it's something with the save file.

Just seeing these few new responses, so I'll test with mods in a new save. It seems like just this one sim when it comes to that trait, but now her daughter is having an issue. She had the Competitive trait, and when I changed it in CAS, the competitive spirit aspect of the trait seems to keep coming back no matter what I do. I'm also having an issue where after a sim breaks up with their partner, when I load back in, the relationship is there again.
Just tested with mods in a new save, and I don't have the issue with the self-assured trait, so I do think it's a save file issue.
that is a different issue and has to do with changing traits in CAS. Never do that. Use the equip/remove cheats.

Trying to use those cheats to get rid of the competitive spirit, but not seeing the command on the site on that forum for that exact one. Still also having no luck on the self-assured one for my other sim, but will try to add it via the cheat.
Edit: Tried to add it with the cheat and that didn't work.
