Sims 4 front door won't set as front door

According to my experience this happens when a plant patch overlaps a front porch and thereby blocks the doorway although it doesn't look like the flowers are blocking anything. It can happen when using the move objects cheat, sometimes in combination with a cheat to enlarge the plant. This can make it overlap a little bit, but still look good visually. All you need to do is to click on the plants around the porch in build mode and see which of their green borders overlaps the porch. Then either remove the plant or move it just a bit so that none of it's green border overlaps the porch. This should make it possible to set the front door as front door again. This is something we builders should check but sometimes we don't always place the decoration so thoroughly maybe. Especially around entry ways we need to check this but it's easy to miss and no big deal. It's easily fixable.

i am also having this issue. with multiple homes, on multiple worlds. basically, every house that has more than one entrance. if there is a sliding door to the side yard, or a second floor living space, or any other home where the front door is not exactly where the game wants it to be, it defaults to a different door. doesnt matter how many times i set the door i want as the front as the front door, it always reverts back to another door. usualy after i leave the lot and return, but not always. this happens with no CC in my game. i routinely take it out for updates and game testing. it also acts like this with a vanilla game
