@mrsbeccaboo I'm not exactly sure what you are asking so I'm going to try to address both issues that I think you may be asking about. I can't tell if you're having problems with all the gates or just have been unlucky enough to find the same gates always locked every time you go.
So, assuming you can't get into any gates, have you tried clicking on the gates? The gates should show two options to clear the way. By hand and by using a machete (if you have one in in your sim's inventory). If you click on the gates and there are no options there then there is a problem with your game and you need to repair. You also must start with the gate just outside the Trailhead lot.
But if your issue is that two of the gates aren't ever accessible then: On every vacation, there are always two gates to different areas in the Jungle that cannot be unlocked. It's completely random which ones they are. The Royal Baths and the Temple gates are always accessible. It's the others that are random. It takes multiple vacations to get in all of the areas. If you are really lucky, then you can get through them in 2 vacations. I have one household where it took me 5 trips to Selvadorada to get into one of them (that particular one seems to be the hardest to get into). It is usually at least 3 trips for me to get into them all. So in this case, you just need to keep taking vacations there. Eventually, you will get into them.

I am having a problem with the areas with the question marks on them, as well as some of the locked gates. I know that there are always locked gates on every vacation but there are a few gates that have never unlocked. I have had this pack since it came out several years ago. My sims have traveled there about a zillion times and the areas with the question marks never opened up. I have tried contacting EA through chat, but they just told me to go to the forums. Which was not helpful at all...

@mrsbeccaboo The areas on the map that have question marks never open up so that you can travel directly there just as you can't travel directly to the temple. As far as I can tell, the question marks represent the areas that have the gates that you have go through. The only way to access the jungle, and those areas is by traveling to the Trailhead lot or either of the rental house lots. You enter the jungle to get to the temple by using the gate just outside of the Trailhead lot.
Once through that gate, you enter the 2nd area. There is one of the random gates to the left. It has the plane. Across the bridge and up the ramp, is the gate to the 3rd area. Once through that you have the emotion tree out on the ledge on your right. Up the left trail up a bit you have the Royal Baths gate on the left and another of the random gates straight ahead which leads to a fishing spot. Back in the 3rd area. There are two more gates. The one in the center is the Temple which randomizes between 5 different layouts. On the extreme right, you have the random gate to the island with another fishing spot. That gate is the one that seems to be the hardest of catch open. To get to the last remaining gate, you have to enter the Royal Baths and it is on your left relative to the entrance point. There is a woohoo bush right outside it.
And that is all there is as far as the jungle goes. The only other things in Selvadorada are the two rentals, museum and bar in the market area.
Access to the gates I have noted as random are the ones that may or may not be open on each trip. Two of them will always be inaccessible on any given trip and two gates will be accessible by removing the vines blocking them by hand or by using the machete. It takes at least two trips to get into all of the gates if you are lucky enough to find the two that were locked on the trip before are unlocked on your second. As I said earlier, sometimes it takes many more trips to get through all of the random gates and into those areas. I had one household that took 5 trips before I got through that last gate.
I apologize if I am wrong, but I think you may have been laboring under a misconception that the areas shown with question marks on the map unlock or something. They don't. If you have been into the areas that I have described above, then you have been everywhere you can.
I hope this helps you.
