Sims Feeback

You should have a motel in each city so when there and our poor sim is very tired, dirty, stinky etc. We can go up to the hotel and check in to a room for period of time, perhaps a day or two as an option and pay a fee. So this way when we are visiting a city we can hang out without having to go back home every time we need a good sleep, and shower.

  • Please create an inventory item we can carry around called a tent. This way, if we are anywhere in game and tired, and can't find a bed, we don't have to leave the area to travel home to sleep. We can instead go into our inventory and take out a tent and plop it down where we are standing, and climb inside and sleep. Just like we can take out a guitar and play it no matter where we are.

Also, a fire and logs to plop down by the tent, so we can cook and eat. It would be funny if it's too close to the tent that we start a fire, and have to stomp on the tent to put it out. That would be funny too.

  • Recently, realized it's sometimes hard to find a restroom. I wondered if you could put an option when clicking on the bushes to "pee in bushes" or it could be worded differently but you get my drift. You could have it called "Squat and Go" and it would be funny.

  • Could we have several options for outdoor survival anywhere (think homeless person).

    I'd love:

    - trash digger (dig in the dumpster and trashcans for clothing and food)

    - sleeping on benches, on the ground, on a carboard box, in a cardboard box

    - drug addict, or alcoholic, or something funny but it doesn't have to be specific. It could be more vague as to not be offending.

    - beggar (option for job - asking for coins in a cup) - can play instruments, etc.

    - crook - breaking into cars, or homes to sleep on sofa, sleep in car, steal a sandwich or coins

    - crazy or mentally ill, or something hilarious to see them acting funny.

    - pushing shopping cart as they walk that fills up and looks funny as we collect stuff

    - treasure hunter (digging through dumpsters or trash looking for treasures)

    - homeless shelter (sleeping, eating, bathing, etc)

    - criminal (option for job)

    - jobs like fast food, maintenance, janitor (to work your way out of being homeless if you choose to)

    - hoarder personality, hermit personality, etc. funny personalities just so it's a little fun to play.  Just like we have wacky scientists and such we could have wacky homeless people.

    - traits like cat hoarder, think old crazy cat lady.

    - maybe even have a yard sale system to sell stuff we collect to people who pass by.

    - maybe even crafts we can rent booths to sell to get coins

Alternate option in this scenario (game pack) would be a philanthropist who builds businesses and charities in the town to help the homeless. With jobs like food bank, charity organizer, church worker, homeless shelter, fast food restaurant, city jobs (maintenance and operations to clean up the city)

Pets can be in this too, where homeless people train the pets to follow them around, fetch them food, do tricks for coins, etc.

It would be fun to play this way, as an option since we have all the wealth but none of the poverty.

This is in no way supposed to make fun of people with mental illness or homelessness.

    Hey there @heartshinegirl,

Thanks for taking the time to write up all this feedback! Some of these suggestions are already available features in-game:

    • Tents are available with Outdoor Retreat, Journey to Batuu, and Snowy Escape. Your Sim is able to place these tents in their inventory and place them down anywhere in a neighborhood to sleep in. There are also some camp-fire options and even a bonfire available that you can use to cook with.
    • There are a few bushes available to use as toilets, these are from the Jungle Adventure and Get Together pack. Your Sim can use these bushes to relieve themselves of any bladder needs, take a quick nap, or even woo-hoo!
    • Your Sim should also have the option to Rummage through any trashcans for food- if they have the Glutton trait, they can also eat any food found in trash cans.
    • Sleeping on benches is currently an available option as well, you should see that option when you click on any benches in the world.
    • Your Sim can play instruments for tip money once they reach level 3 skill of that instrument. Just head out into a public location with your instrument in your inventory and start playing, your Sim will receive money based on how well of a performance they give.
    • There is a kleptomaniac trait which allows your Sim to steal items from lots.
    • Criminal is an optional career- you will either choose to become a Crime Boss or follow the Oracle Career and focus on hacking.
    • Fast-food and manual labor is available as a part-time job.
    • For some of the more "wacky" traits, there is Erratic, Slob, Paranoid, and Loner which can all be quite fun to play with!
    • A yard sale table is currently available with City Living and Jungle Adventure, which allows you to stock and sell any items you've collected in your Sim's inventory. This is a ton of fun to use if you're like me and play ultimate survival challenges!

I'm absolutely loving the idea for a philanthropist career, I'll be sure to get that feedback sent on to the team 🙂

  • @heartshinegirl if you want the option to add somewhere to dwell while travelling to other worlds/before or instead of building a home but without owning a pack that includes tents what you can do is create a generic lot type and build whatever you want. So it can be a shelter or a hotel or wood cabins for example and you could even add a fishing retreat with the pond option. I also added a ruined piece of castle to sleep in too with nearby outdoor grill and public bathroom.
Using the base game only (as I don't know which packs you have) I added bars, a disco, a restaurant set (with food from the bar) and hotel rooms to a generic lot type hotel and it worked. Sims didn't pay for rooms but it still looked like a hotel and had the same elements. But it could actually be anything you wanted it to be. I also edited the local gyms to add sleeping quarters, although the busy gym did mean that the sleeping took a long time as it didn't kick into fast forward. It was better for naps.
Charity Organisers as you mentioned are also available but only with the city living pack in the political career path. With Get Famous, celebrities get to give back to the community too with donations of money or even by donating their possessions. The ability to give back to the town in a more hands on way and live sustainably is part of Eco Living and if memory serves me that's also where the Freegan trait is added to the game. That's a fun one actually, I built a whole furniture store from things I found in dumpsters.
I don't want to encourage anyone to spend money but if you decided to do so, Outdoor retreat is one of my favourite packs and my Sims often just travel around with a tent and a portable campfire. In the base game I particularly like travelling to the hidden areas like Sylvan Glade or the grotto in Oasis Springs. My Sims happily stay tucked away there for days just fishing. Snowy Escape also has a tent if I remember correctly. Outdoor retreat adds airbeds and camping cots as well and if you own Cats and Dogs, pet supplies are included. It also adds a stunning vacation world that I never get tired of visiting. But don't take my word for it, there are online videos, etc of Granite Falls to help you make your own mind up.
Whatever you decide to do though, these are all fun options. I really loved building my base game hotel!
