Sims For Rent Unable to pay or collect rent. Still.

I just downloaded For Rent. I understand rent should be collect on Wednesday at 5am but I am unable to pay my rent through the phone or the mailbox and my tenants also do not pay rent. I have played for a couple of in game weeks and nothing changes. I also seem to have an issue with my mailbox as mail just isn't being delivered. I have reset the mailbox and bought a new one but the problem still exists.
