Sims won't finish baking

Is anyone else having a problem with sims baking? Cooking meals is fine but whatever they try to bake they get about a third of a the way through then just completely stop and just stand there for hours staring at the bowl! I've tried it in two separate game saves in different households and with different sims and it happens every time.
