skill bug

when sim is cooking skill goes up  to 38% level one but when foods done it jumps to level 2

  • @twigirl05 Hi!  There are a couple things that may have boosted that initial level from 1 to 2 so quickly.  First of all, level 1 is the fastest and easiest level to complete so I don't think it would be strange to jump to level 2 from 38% as you mentioned.  There is a larger boost to the skill when sims actually complete a meal so that may have been a factor.  Was your sim inspired or did they become inspired while cooking?  Having the inspired moodlet when cooking boosts the skill as well.  Does your sim have the creative or foodie traits?  I think both can boost the cooking skill.

  • @twigirl05 I'm not sure if I'm understanding what's happening for you correctly, but I thought I would mention, just in case, that your Sim will have to work on cooking until the level bar is at 100% to get the skill level to increase by one (such as going from level 2 to level 3).

It can also be a bit confusing that there are different related skills that have a separate level that can be worked on - such as gourmet cooking and baking. (But your cooking skill needs to be high enough (level 5) to begin working on gourmet cooking skill, by even then they are separate skills.)

There is some great info on cooking in this Carl's Guide: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/skills/gourmetcooking/

As an aside, you can also increase cooking skill by watching the cooking channel or reading. My fav way to increase my Sim's cooking skill, especially at the beginning, is to direct them to eat or use a treadmill in front of the TV that is set to the cooking channel. You can cover fun, fitness, cooking, and even social at the same time (if another Sim is there chatting with them). Win-win! 🙌
