The Hermit of Granite Falls

I thought there was a male and a female version. Not sure why a random one would be the hermit unless the original one died.

I checked TwistedMexis webpage and found these traits listed for OR

Maybe the forestGhost is the hermit ? Not sure what else it would be.

If you use MCCC you can check which traits your current hermit has.

I have got MCCC so I'll see if that has any answers.  

As for the original dying, I'm pretty sure I set the lifespan to long but like I said in my post not even a full in-game day has passed (still the first Sunday of Spring) and I've turned off accidental deaths as a neighbourhood story, so unless the original Hermit was going to die in around 4 hours when I started this new save I'd have thought they'd still be around 😄

Yeah, sounds strange that you have someone else but maybe it's yet another feature that broke somewhere along the road although I haven't seen any bug reports.

Is he at least wearing the correct clothing ?

yes, the Hermit does have a hidden trait "trait_isMasterHerbalist". The Hermit can be either male or female and needs to be an elder or an adult.

I'm pretty sure that the "original" Hermit is a randomly generated sim, because I've had various Hermits in my different save files.

Did you ever have a premade Sim being the hermit ? That sounds off.

No, not that I'm aware of.

But if I understood it correctly, then BearyBry​ has been using a mod that prevents the game from generating new townies. So I think that the game might have picked a premade sim as a fallback option in that case, because it wasn't allowed to create the hermit from scratch.

That would probably be an explanation.
