The wants and fears system is boring and too easily-gamed

The way it's set up, you actually DON'T want to have your Sims do what they want. Since you need to complete a want to get rid of a fear, the obvious strategy is to pin wants that are easy to complete (like "listen to latin music"), and then never do them. And once your Sim develops one of the 5-or-so different fears, you just quickly complete one of your wants and then chat with a sim about it. Bam, you never ever need to deal with a fear, and all it requires is to never do what your Sims want.

It seems a little silly that the way to "win" the wants and fears system is to almost never have sims do what they want. I'm pretty sure that's the opposite of the system's intention, right?

Player will always use the easy way for such systems. I read often that players don’t like that they can’t click wants away without potion. The team changed an 8-year system without a thought on player which was satisfied with the system as we had. Now we have two groups which don’t like the new system.

    1. People who wanted wants & fears as it was in sims 2. (A deep system not this we got)
    2. People who want the old system back because they never wanted such a system

I played a little with wants and fears but it’s still not for me, especially after I read fears can stuck on your sims, self after you got rid of it. As far I know there are less than 100 wants in the game, so it’s obvious that they seem repetitive.. As always it was a nice idea but bad implemented, NAPS (Eco Lifestyle) and Lifestyles (Snowy Escape) suffer from same problem.
