Vampires - Too much Eternal Sadness?

Lately it seems like my Vampire is being affected my Eternal Sadness more often than she was before. She is getting the +3 Sad moodlet sometimes two or three times a day. I don't remember it happening that often before. Has anyone else seen a change in this?

Also she keeps doing an idle animation like she is feeling sick and the game shows a thought bubble with a plasma juice pack. She has the Withered Stomach weakness but as far as I know that should not affect drinking plasma packs. She never eats regular food & her Thirst need is full.

I'll try doing some tests in a mod-free New Game, but does anyone know what might be causing this? It's just an idle animation but it's a little annoying.

Thanks :D

  • After playing several additional vampires I've found that these behaviors appear to be by design and not a bug. I've discussed this issue with other players and it appears to be happening in their games as well. In my game, Lilith Vatore still seems to be affected more frequently than my other vampire Sims but it's not completely limited just to her either. Unfortunately the best ways I have found to prevent these distracting behaviors involves using mods-- I am primarily using MCCC and Little Ms Sam's Vampire Powers mod. While I'm fine with using mods I know many players prefer not to use them (very understandable) and console players don't even have the option. I may do some additional testing with a vanilla/no-mod save in the future if I see anything in some game patch notes that mentions vampire behaviors.

  • I've seen it happen on my game up to four times a day and it was annoying I don't know why they do the low on plasma animation for this I had to level up on vampire skill and make the drink that resets all powers and weaknesses I've seen other posts on Reddit about this as well but it was a while ago though.

@Rachelharris31 Did you see it on all Vampires or just certain ones? The Sim I am playing is Lilith Vatore (I just edited her looks in CAS)-- I've been talking with other players (since my original post) and they seem to be having this same problem with Lilith but not so much with other Vampires.

For me it was her brother I used the potion to reset his points and I gave him the eternal sadness weakness and he kept on doing it I'll make a new vampire tomorrow and give them the eternal sadness weakness and I'll let you know what happens.

@Rachelharris31 I've been leaving poor Caleb at home while Lilith goes out and has all the fun xD He hasn't gained enough experience yet in my game to need choose more weaknesses; all he has for now is Guilty Drinker and Fitful Sleep. For now I used a mod to remove all of Lilith's weaknesses while leaving her powers intact. To be honest I can live with the Sadness moodlets but that Withered Stomach idle animation was driving me crazy. She no longer does this animation since I used the mod. I believe there is a cheat that does the same thing but it is involves Sims ID's & is not super easy to use. I have another fledgling Vampire in a different household (she's not a pre-made, I created her in CAS) so I was planning on testing her next.

This is what I have discovered vampires that have the eternal sadness weakness and don't have witherd stomach only do a crying animation I tested 2 vampires one was a vampire I made the other was vladius Straus a pre made vampire I changed his weaknesses and he has eternal sadness but not witherd stomach and he just did the crying animation. Now when I tested on Lilith I gave her eternal sadness she already had witherd stomach weakness she was doing the low thirst animation every 4 sim Hours but when I reset her weaknesses and didn't give her witherd stomach weakness she just cried like the first two so it seems to me that they only do the low thirst animation when they have witherd stomach and eternal sadness together these methods were tested on both pc and console I also made another vampire with both those weaknesses together and they kept on doing it as well so witherd stomach and eternal sadness aren't a good weaknesses to put together it seems.

@Rachelharris31 Thanks so much for testing all of that & it's awesome that you tested both on PC and console. I hope many other players will benefit from reading your post if they have this same issue in their game and decide to research it here on AHQ. :D

I have been doing further testing on my Lilith Vatore and unfortunately even without the Withered Stomach weakness she is still doing that "plasma juice pack" animation and appearing like she is about to be sick (as shown in the images I added in Post #1). I previously used a Mod to delete all of her Weaknesses and this time I chose Eternal Sadness, Nightmarish Sleep (counts as two weaknesses), and Guilty Drinker. Lilith occasionally did the "crying" idle animation but she continued to do that other plasma juice/low thirst animation as well. Her Thirst need was nearly full and she is only using plasma juice packs or other Sims for feeding, she is not eating any regular food or plasma fruit food recipes. I'm beginning to wonder if there really is something different about Lilith. She doesn't seem to be getting the +3 Sadness moodlet quite as often so maybe before it was just a bad streak of frequent random occurrences-- or maybe the Withered Stomach weakness made that worse too?

I've cheated her back to zero weaknesses for now & I will try some different combinations the next time I play. I'll also try what you suggested with using Vlad or my other vampire instead of Lilith & hopefully I will have better luck with them.

EDIT: So far the only way I've been able to prevent Lilith from constantly doing the crying or the angry/low thirst idle animations is with mods. I've been playing Vlad's household for the last 28 game-days. I've given him the same Weaknesses as Lilith and he never does any of those idle animations, just a lot hissing.

EDIT 2: I've added a teen daughter for Vlad's household. She was a regular Sim I created in CAS and turned into a Vampire through game-play. As she has been leveling up in Vampire ranks I have been giving her the same Weaknesses that Lilith has. This new Sim does not do the same "plasma pack"/ low thirst idle animations as Lilith does. I am not using any mod cheats on this Sim. I'll keep adding more of the same Weaknesses all the way up to Grand Master Vampire and see how it goes.

EDIT 3: I am still trying more vampires and so far it's only Lilith with these problems in my game. I've spoken with other players who also seem to be having similar issues with Lilith.

Hey all thanks for this info! I recently installed Vampires and created two (actually they were turned in game). Both have withered stomach and only one has eternal sadness. For the sim that has both, I am seeing the same behavior as @RandomBuzziness -- except it's various different things in her thought bubble when she is doing the wretching animation. I have frequently seen something pink in the thought bubble, I don't know what it is. I liked her combo of weaknesses -- but this nearly-constant gagging animation is really distracting!  I might have to reconfigure her. I really appreciate that this was tested and confirmed, thanks!
