So, vets are confined to treating cats and dogs, and it looks like your cows, llamas, and chickens don't get sick.
They do, however, age and die, and it would be nice to have veterinary supplies like age up and age down treats for your farm animals. The game encourages you to befriend them, so it makes me sad that they don't get the same level of veterinary care you can give your cats and dogs.
(Also I've wished for age up and age down treats for farm animals because of the chicks never aging up/animals become elders when travelling bugs.)
@xochiquetzl_xkvn , I totally agree with you! I really want those treats for farm animals. Especially since the farms we have are no kill farms, the animals are more like pets then they are livestock! And I'm pretty sure @SheriGR would be in agreement with you! 💖
You are correct, @PugLove888 , I though I completely understand why @xochiquetzl_xkvn would want to have functions and items from the Cats and Dogs pack apply to the Country Living pack (the animals there are pretty much functioning like pets), I also understand why the vet and pet care functions are not applied. This would involve many additional coding/functionality functions for the game makers, and there would be potential misunderstandings amongst players about if/why their functions were different with or without either pack and combo, and probably many aspects that we don't foresee. I think they have done this with a number of the packs - not combing some aspects that would be a nice overlap when a new pack comes out.
On the other hand, despite the ways some people would grumble and the extra work involved, I also expect EA would have an influx of Cats and Dogs orders if some aspects of the vet functions, vet treats, etc. were to be added in an overlap of functions. I would assume it's a judgement call, but I do understand why they didn't add the overlap.
@xochiquetzl_xkvn ... I'm assuming you know this, but just in case... there is a setting in your game where you can turn off aging for the animals from the Country Living pack. If you're like me, you may want to turn aging off for them? Go to Options > Game Options > Pack Settings > 'Cottage Living' and uncheck the box next to "Animal Aging":
@SheriGR Yeah, I know. The thing is that chicks won’t age up unless aging is on, so an age-up treat would be helpful for that. (I once saw a YouTuber ask “Why would anyone want an age up treat for their pet?” It’s for if you have aging off.)
I foolishly 😉 took a bunch of hatchable golden eggs with a household split and turned animal aging on. I got 99% rooster chicks who refused to age for weeks and weeks and weeks. Finally I put them all in the household inventory over night, as that’s suggested for that bug, and when I let them back out they all went into the coop and turned into elders. Groovy. ☹️
So while I understand why that functionality wasn’t in cats and dogs, I really miss the treats for livestock!
@SheriGR , thanks for reminding people about the ageing off settings for barn yard animals. This can be a great choice for those that don't have chickens. @xochiquetzl_xkvn , you hit the nail on the head with your explanation for why we need the same treats for livestock animals as we have for pets! (Those poor roosters you had missed the best years of their lives! 😓)
@xochiquetzl_xkvn Wow, that stinks! I'm sorry about your chicks! 😭 Yes, I agree that at lease having an 'age up' treat for the chicks, or the ability to click on them and age them up - like with babies (for those with aging off), would be a great idea! 🙌
@xochiquetzl_xkvn I'm disappointed that there is no veterinarian gameplay whatsover with farm animals.. ☹️ We have all these packs but little to no cross-pack features and that's one thing that would definitely make the game more exciting and I'd want to buy packs for the reason of them adding more to the stuff I already have.
What if in Cottage living we could call a vet for a house call and then pay for them to do a health check-up and give vaccinations to our farm animals and this would lengthen their life span a little? That would be so awesome at least to me...
