Sims 2 was so fun! The sims did silly things like pirates in the tub, swing on the fridge door just for fun. I loved all that stuff. I miss it too. Sims 4 sims are as far from this game play as they can get.
I also love Sims 3 for building more instead of playing Sims or families. Have to admit after EA finished with it and Modders had their way it was way more playable. I still play it sometimes. ACottonSock has a really great Sims 3 fix to run it smooth and with more packs. She is on youtube.
.Sims 4 I build most of all but still do play at times. When EA is finished with it and the Modders come up with fixes I am looking forward to a much more playable game.
Sims 5 doesn't sound fun at all and I am hoping new companies that are working on their own ideas come up with something much better.
