Whats up with the Sims4 Legacy Edition??

I am so incredibly upset and pissed of that origin and EA would do this! Who in the right mind would release an update and ruin everything in a flash? I even preordered discover university. Fix this!!!!!

Hello fellow simmers! Just like to bring up the news that nobody seems to be talking about. Us OLD mac users can't seem to play any new sims games after spending hundreds of dollars on sims 2, sims 3, and sims 4. EA, do better. I have spent so much damn money and time on sims, and I'm sorry I cant afford a new mac but give us users some respect. Sims 4 Legacy has done nothing but * up my game. Before all of these stupid updates, everything was fine. You guys better * fix this cause this is some bull [Removed - CM].... If not, I'd like a refund on all my games. And if you cant do that, then I will no longer be supporting EA. its not fair that I have spent countless money on sims and now i cant play it anymore. I also just bought university for 40 DOLLARS to find out that I cant play it. Wow. So outraged.

As a long-time player of Sims (since the Sims 1 era) I totally agree with you. Unfortunately (except a miracle), they won't change their minds since they have no choices for the future to follow the new technology and develop the game with new features. I also bought today the new DLC of Discover University and I wasn't able to play (since I have to download the Sims 4 Legacy and there's not compatible together). I went to Facebook and I complained publicly in their new trailer post of the Sims 4 Discover University. About how they put their users in an issue situation and to not publicly the information more on Origin and make a pop-up before and while the user is buying the new extension. Sims 4 Help replied as *** fast as they could. I ask for a refund and they did it. Apparently, they were supposed to make the upgrade on Island Living (June 2019). I totally feel you and I don't know how I will be able to continue to play in the long-term without any update, a gallery, and interesting features, just because of this. I feel like they accepted to loose so many players.

Right now, a lot of us find this new situation very frustrating and outraged.  Some are lost and don't understand what going on. EA remains silent about it.

You should know that if your PC or Mac doesn't have the requirements for the new extension, that will  NOT WORK.

Because the Sims 4 Legacy isn't compatible with the new extension SIMS 4 Discover University. 

So, be sure to check these links and inform yourself BEFORE to buy. (I totally know that EA/Origin didn't provide enough information). And we simmers got excited about this release, so it's kind of a marketing trap or something?

Also, the Sims 4 Legacy means:

NO GALLERY,  NO game banners, NO social integrations. NO ONLINE MODE.

NO DISPLAY or allow any purchases of content released after the update happens.

NO ANYMORE CONTENTS OR BUG FIXES.

If you need a refund because you bought the extension 'Discover University' without knowing, try Facebook - On the Page of Sims 4. Make a critical complaint on their last sims trailer or post, lets them hear you loudly. A Sims 4 Help will come to you and ask for a refund. I got my cashback this way.

Please note that every case is specific, they may not accept to refund all your previous extensions or your university extension. 

Hope this post will help some of you. We may hope for a change but I am pretty sure they let "us" go.

@renren981, you do not have to make a critical complaint this way in order to get a refund.  Other people have gotten refunds just by pointing out that they thought they would be able to play Discover University and now obviously they can't.🙌  You obviously got your refund but you assumed that it was because you made a rant.  You would have gotten the refund anyway  just by asking.  😇  (However, there is a limited time to ask for a Discover University refund, so those that haven't asked for one yet should do it soon!  I don't know how long the offer lasts.)

All I wanted to play was the university but now all my worlds are gone and the quality just sucks I don’t even think the game is worth it anymore include macs in the actually game!

i am so incredibly frustrated right now..... i cant download anything off the library OR UPLOAD ANYTHING and ughhh. it makes me not even want to play sims anymore and i've been playing since the first game. i'm so damn sad, i came home to having to download this version and when i tried to build anything, the build button was greyed out and it said that it was loading. took 45 minutes and still did not, so i shut off my computer. i hate this. please fix this ea ☹️

Yeah, an older-model PC, but is that any of EA's or Origin's business?

I've owned TS4 since 2017 (I bought it AND several of their Game and Stuff packs).

Since the forced update, they no longer show me the option to purchase ANY of their Game or Stuff packs!

Is it because they assume I'm too poor? Old PC = loser who can't afford their spiffy products so let's just wave bye-bye?

And, what has being poor or owning an older-model PC got to do with their Gallery?

Yes, it's always been obvious EA likes to showcase "Those With the Most Packs Win", but I don't quite understand what that has to do with someone less-equipped or "poor" as me.

And, again, I have to wonder how (or if) it is any of "their" business?

I wasn't the least bit interested in their University Game Pack, but I had hopes of purchasing a few more of their older items, but now I guess I'm unable... to BUY their merchandise... because they auto-assume I'm too poor... because I'm playing on an older-model PC.

The illogical reasoning AND bad business practice (ethics?) has my head in a spin.

So much for anxiously awaiting The Sims 5!

@LoriBQ  I've moved your post to the general discussion section, since you posted in a Mac thread and don't seem to be asking for troubleshooting help.

If your PC has a 64-bit version of Windows, you can play the standard edition of Sims 4, regardless of whether the Legacy Edition was offered.  But if it's a 32-bit system, then yes, you're out of luck.  Honestly, I'm surprised the game runs well at all in 32-bit anymore, especially with a number of packs installed.  The new EPs are likely going to increase the demands even further, and 2 GB RAM is likely not going to be anywhere near enough anymore.
