@elulu8 Just to put my vote in, without all the detail as I see @PugLove888 has replied a couple of times so I'm positive she has provided fantastic reasons for these preferences, but imho:
- Seasons EP is essential, it enhances every aspect of all packs and the base game, and would be hands down my #1 choice if I could only get one pack.
- Get to Work would be my #2 choice for all of the gameplay and career options it brings...
- Cats & Dogs would be my #3 choice because I'm a big fan of adding fur-babies and all they bring to a household... IF you love cats &/or dogs. If not, skip it. If you Super love them, I'd move this to #2.
Have fun!!! 🙌

@elulu8, please feel free to either use cheats or not use cheats! 😉 Don't let others tell you it is wrong because in a game like the Sims, you aren't playing against anyone.🙂 The only time it is wrong to use cheats in the Sims is when you are doing an official Challenge of some sort! 🤨
I play in a variety of ways -- some save games I never cheat in , and others I use cheats all the time -- it just depends on what my goals are for that save game our household on that particular day! 🙌
So, absolutely no judgement on what cheats you use and when, or if you decide never to use them. It is your game! 🙌 That is the beauty of the Sims! 🥳
I only mentioned that City Living had a Festival that was great for giving you Sims money with out using money cheats because some people only play the game that way, and this is an excellent way to help out your Sims by only using gameplay mechanics! 🙌 So, if your Sims are ever low on cash and you don't want to cheat, then try having them go to the Humor and Hijinks Festival and follow the instructions that I listed in my earlier post. 😉
And as @suzushka said, no you can't have your Sims be a landlord of an apartment building. But recently we were given an update to the base game that allows you to have non-controllable roommates live with you, and in some ways that is like being a kind of landlord since you are still the one responsible for making sure everything is running properly! But that is as close as it gets to being a landlord, and doesn't have anything to do with City Living! 🙂
I do agree with @SheriGR in that I also find Get to Work a lot of fun, especially the Scientist career!
My ranking for my self is 1) Cats & Dogs 2)Seasons and tied for 3) City Living and Get to Work
However my ranking for those that arent' as pet crazy as I am is to put Seasons in the number 1 spot!
Honorable mention for other EP's goes to Get Together. It has the largest world, some of the best architecture (Build/Buy Mode items) and The Club system in that game is very powerful and has some great features. The only reason that I don't place it higher is that my gameplay style doesn't match up as much with this. I tend to play more families and don't like for them to be split up a lot because I want to control all of them at the same time. I know you can make clubs for your families to gain the club perks for them, but I keep forgetting to do this! If I ever remember to do this, I will probably rank Get Together higher! 😃
As of now the only club I use extensively is the Garden Gnomes gardening club. Works better than hiring a Gardener, or even using Patchy the Scarecrow from Seasons! By joining the Garden Gnomes you can have them meet at your house instead of a community lot -- by doing this, instead of paying others to tend your garden, you can have them over to your house where they will gladly tend your garden until you tell them to go home!!!! All the while you gain Club Points to spend as you like! 🙌 Just have your Sim do all the harvesting and have the club do all the watering, weeding, and bug spraying! 😃
We can't wait to hear what you end up getting and what your thoughts are of it! 😉- RandomBuzziness5 years agoSeasoned Ace
I agree with @PugLove888 and @suzushka . The Club system from the Get Together EP is awesome! It keeps all club members in the same general area and actively engaged and socializing with each other (NPCs included) rather than all just wandering off and doing their own thing, or even leaving the lot entirely. Here are some uses for Get Together clubs:
1) If your Sim is dating an NPC you can create a "Date Night" club to hang out with your boyfriend/girlfriend without having to worry about the timer or completing goaled tasks that come with a formal "date" event. Have a fun, relaxed night of dancing, watching a movie, go to a museum, whatever you want, just enjoy each other's company.
2) If your Sim has moved out of their family home to attend Uni, or for any other reason, you can create a "Family Fun" club so you can hang out with your (now NPC) family members-- have fun at the park, go bowling, attend a festival in San Myshuno, whatever you want. It's also great for keeping them all in the same place for holiday get-togethers. Btw- you can also use the "Always Welcome" perk if you want to do a sleep-over at your old family home, or raid their refrigerator for a free meal! ;-D
3) If your Sim is at Uni and has lots of Uni NPC friends you can create a Sorority or Fraternity club or any other type of mixed Uni friends club. It's a great way to keep them all together for a night of partying or a fun day at an arcade. You can even use it to send them all to a place like Sulani for a day (or more!) for a sort of mini-Spring Break. Did someone say Beach Party?
These are just a few of the ones I use. There are many, many other ways to use the Club system from Get Together, kid's clubs, teen clubs, heck when the new Nifty Knitting pack comes out you could even have a knitting club!

@RandomBuzziness, excellent ideas! 🙌💡 I love the date club because I never even thought of having a club for just my Sim and their boyfriend/girlfriend! I need to try this! ❤️
Also your ideas for using the Club system with Discover University are genius! I especially love the family club idea! 😇❤️
And you can be sure that I will make knitting clubs in many of my save files! 🥳 I had already planned that (since I belong to a knitting/crocheting club in real life), but that is great advice for anyone planning on getting Nifty Knitting and might not have thought of it! 😎
- 5 years ago@SheriGR Thanks for your answer I love dogs a lot and bought the cats and dogs pack with the game as a bundle a couple years ago
Also to everyone,
Thanks for your help, I recently got a bit of extra money (only $60 but is still enough to buy expansion packs and have money leftover) and noticed that the expansion packs are on sale!!!!! I am definitely buying city living and most likely another one I just have a couple more questions.
1) I once watched a sims 4 gameplay youtube video and saw that they had friend groups and I wasn't sure if that came with an expansion pack or if it comes with the game, if it comes with an expansion pack please tell me which one
2) In get to work can you build stuff on Sixam (I don't intend to build stuff on it but if you could that would be amazing)- SheriGR5 years agoHero
@elulu8 I'm so glad you're loving Cats & Dogs!! 🙂 Get to Work would be my second choice (right behind Seasons) for a pack to recommend. I absolutely love that pack for the great careers, ability to own retail stores and sell your stuff, and many great build items and gameplay options. I hope you decide to give it a try and would love to know what you think if you do!! Have fun! 🙌

@elulu8, I'm so glad you are enjoying Cats & Dogs ! 🐱🐶🥳 And I'm glad you got some extra money and that City Living was on sale! 🙌
To answer your question, the pack that came with friend groups was most likely the Get Together EP! It has a powerful Club system! I use the Garden Gnomes Club to tend my garden for free all the while earing club points while they are doing it! 😎 You can make your own clubs as well. There is also the possibility that the YouTube video you saw was the Discover University EP which has Organizations , but those will just be during the time your Sim is at university. 😉
I'm not sure if in Get to Work you can build on Sixam, since I have never tried to do so. Normally, you are only on Sixam during the work day (when traveling there is one of your daily tasks), so the time spent there is limited. But I have visited outside of work when my Scientist Sim has made a Wormhole Generator, and upgraded it and then cloned it so they could use the cloned one on their home lot! (You clone items with an object cloner that you make as a Scientist!) . When traveling to Sixam from home, I was able to stay there longer than while at work! I never tried building there , but you might be able to build there if you use the Free Build cheat! 🤔Bring up the cheat box Ctrl + Shift + C
In the box type testingcheats true and hit EnterThen type bb.enablefreebuild and hit Enter
This might allow you to build on Sixam. I know it allows you to build in university dorms and on with Realm of Magic it allows you to build in the Magic Realm! 🙌
Please update us on what you think about City Living, and about any other packs you get! Happy Simming! 🥳- 5 years ago@PugLove888 I haven't gotten the expansion packs yet but i think i will get dine out and city living.
I was just wondering if you could build a restaurant in San Myshuno, and if you could build a restaurant inside of an apartment building.
Im thinking that for building a restaurant it will be the same as building a vet clinic (My previous question about building a vet clinic)
I checked out a couple videos and they looked amazing I can't wait to play with city living!
