Gladys is always out looking for excitement in all the wrong ways and Vernon usually finds himself glooming over the tiny details in life.Vernon Morse and Gladys Morse are sims who were used in various promotional materials for The Sims 4, including several trailers and an appearance on the base game's old cover. They can be found in the Gallery where they can be downloaded from SimGuruZephyr's profile. Their relationship is unclear; they are roommates when downloaded, despite having the same surname and being referred to as an "odd couple" in the family bio. Opinions amongst players differ as to whether they are a married couple, mother and son, or siblings. It is implied that Laney Voom is Vernon's love interest, and among Gladys' love interests being Chuck Cenzo.I am making a save where I add all the sims from the trailers, starting from the very beginning and pre-release of the game, to the latest pack released. But I'm at a point where these two sims stumped me, 'cause they share the same surname but they're not married, they're not siblings or have a mother-and-son relationship (Vernon is a fully grown Adult, while Gladys is an Elder), they're just roommates when loaded to Create-A-Sim. And as mentioned above, Vernon is in love with Laney, and Gladys has many love interests.Any SimGuru, especially SimGuruZephyr and SimGuruJill if they're still active, can anyone answer this question regarding their relationship? It has never been stated but they were referred to as a "couple". Whatever that means, either romantic couple or couple as in "two people" paired.

@diavolosims , I do not work for EA, but here is my head-cannon: I think they are just 2 roommates who happen to have the same name! Morse is a common enough name for that to happen. (One of my favorite music bands had 3 members with the same last name , but none of them were related! 😅) I think what really happened is that they meant to give them a relationship , but forgot. That has happened to me more times than I can count! 🤭🤦♀️😅Alternatively, you can give them your own story. Perhaps they are really mother and son, but Vernon is too embarrassed to admit to still living whith his mom, while Gladys might think not want to admit she has a grown son as it makes her look even older... which she might be doing in order not to scare off the much younger Chuck! Anyway, I hope you get the true answer.🤞 but in the meantime you can have fun with any of the things I suggested, or you might come up with even better ones! 🙌

@PugLove888 Hey! I vote for mother and son but the relationship, as you said, was inadvertently left out. I've done that before too! Also, maybe Gladys should hire Sarah Jessica Parker to intervene. ;-)@diavolosims I too am curious now about the true answer to your question. So, I also hope someone is able to provide it.

@JonaO703 , lol 😄 Yes, while I still am going with the "2 roommates with the same last name" scenario, I do feel that they were really meant to be mother and son, like you also suspected. It really is common to leave off relationships before hitting the "done" button! Usually for me, I forget to set as spouses the two adults I intended to be spouses, and then either have to cheat their relationship later, or else I have to get them married in the game. 😅 But I've also have forgotten to set as siblings some adults I made in CAS , and was so upset to have them be roommates only! 😓🤦♀️

I wonder if these 2 have fallen victim to a bug I've found with saved families. I keep noticing that when you create a family and save them, for example to your own library... the relationships immediately vanish.So I stopped saving my families to my library because if I was adding them back I'd almost always forget that they would just be roommates. I wonder if that's what's happened here.

My vote:They are mother and son, and were not marked as such because the base game lacked genealogy when released. (Justice for Johnny Zest!)

Honestly I doubt the toddler photo really means anything other than just "hey let's see what these Sims all look like as toddlers!" Was that a toddler stuff promo or something? Because there's no way these two (pink with grey hair and orange with yellow hair) are the same age.

Actually, these two are the subjects of the thread; Vernon and Gladys.
Also, they don't have to be the same age to be siblings. My sister is almost 7 years older than me. But in any case, they could be unrelated or Mother and Son or Aunt and Nephew or Brother and Sister, it's just a guess until someone can confirm their relationship. :-)

@JonaO703 , you are right, but I think what @PipMenace was trying to get at is that Gladys is not of the same generation as anybody else in the photo with the adults, and they just used the blonde woman as a better comparison since they were both women. 😉

While it is true that siblings can be far in age (I know of some who have older siblings 15 years older! 🤨) there is no way then that the little toddler with the red hair , hat , and pink dress standing in Gladys's spot can be Gladys since if she is a much older sibling, she couldn't be a toddler at the same time as her younger brother! If Vernon is 2 or 3 years old and Gladys is at least 7 years apart (like you and your sibling), she would have to be 9 or 10 years old!

I think this was just a promotional piece that was having a little fun with the well-known artwork featuring grown-up Sims! 😎

@PugLove888 Ah, okay. That's a fair point. I didn't think about it that way and you're probably right that it was just for a promotion. That being said, it is possible to have sims start the game in the same "generation" but age differently. I usually have aging turned off and hardly ever age sims up at the same time. I've had several play-throughs with NPCs and played sims starting as YA but then only aged up my played sims. There were elders and YA sims in the game that were the same age at one point. So, you could very well start a game with all those toddlers that end up with various ages. :-)
Anyway, my post wasn't about proving they were siblings, just that it could be a possibility but, again, they could have any other kind of relationship as well; familial or not. I'm still curious and wondering if we'll ever know.
As an aside, I just noticed that Gladys is featured in the Detective Career photo. I don't think I would've known who she was if not for this thread. lol

@Simskrystallen On an unrelated note, I love how Babs L'Amour's hair color went from blonde to mustard yellow over the years. But in all seriousness, I like how Maxis realized that the mustard yellow hair color isn't doing anyone good. ^_^;;

@JonaO703 , yeah I have seen some Sims start in the same generation but then age differently, but I think it was mostly either Sims that were not made at the same time in CAS as one household and were added later, or Sims that either came with the game and made by the developers or else Sims that I downloaded from the Gallery. Usually when I make Sims the same Lifestage, they age up on the same day, if I make them at the same time in CAS. But you are right -- I have seen that as well! 😄

@diavolosims , I always thought Babs had the Cheese hair (as several have called it) --I never remember it being a different color. 🤔 🤷‍♀️
Yes, I wish the person or persons who made Galdys and Vernon would solve this mystery for us! 🔎😅
