Why are neglected kids still on the family tree unaged?

I'm sure this must have been addressed previously. It's gone on for a long time now and doesn't seem to be mentioned on the bugs list. I know this is well known about though.

CHILDREN who are whisked away due to neglect for whatever reason - Simmers leaving their computer while they get a snack etc - but STILL appearing on the family tree. They do not age but instead stay there as a baby/toddler/child very much alive despite it being 5 generations later.

I know someone addressed it and someone told them to just leave the game and don't save but that is not always an option and not being funny but also shouldn't have to be an option just to avoid messing the family tree up. I like to play a "what will be will be" game with my sims and leave them to do what they want with my frequent encouragement towards degrees, skills etc. But neglected child? What will be will be. It happens. I brand that family as the family who lost their kid. But that doesn't work when the thumbnail DOESN'T AGE. It's so small but I get aging them may not work but even if they just get removed from the family tree then so be it but no they just stay there. I'm sure this didn't happen with previous games, I can't remember exactly but I'm sure in either 2 or 3 they became available to adopt by another family or something. I just think after so long of Sims 4 and being in 2021 that something about this thumbnail sitch could be resolved without mods or having to quit the game without saving it.

Anyone else agree? I know there's mods but I like my games mod-less and I can handle it until daft stuff like this happens and I'm like damn I'm gonna have to download MCCC again to delete the kid.

It gets annoying please help.

I get you I always stray off from it then get back to it again months later haha!
Yeah I do things I don't notice my OCD attacks me in the intrusive thoughts, false memories and the constant "What if I did this?" "if I did this it doesn't make me this does it?" I drive people insane with it haha!

@jpkarlsen True, plus the fact that life lengths are variable, seasons are variable... makes it exceedingly difficult. It would be nice to have it in there somehow...

But you CAN specify the day of the year, right? Does base-game even have years? It's been so long, I don't remember. Maybe that only started with Seasons...

Now that would be a popular mod... if someone can figure out the logistics of having birthdays...

No, not the day of the year. It might be possible to create a tally of how many days you have lived but that would not help here because the child was removed from the game.

@jpkarlsenWell, I suppose the game could keep a running tally of the number of days passed since "New game". (If it doesn't already) That would be easy enough. Simple counter. Then make a record of the "day number" the child was born. The game keeps a record of the current settings for lifespan selected. If the current average lifespan is like 100 days, and the child was born over 200 days ago, then just mark it in the family tree as "deceased". The child doesn't even need to exist and it's a couple of counters, a few INTs and a few tests. Cake.

Mark as deceased...

Yes I agree that probably could be done but since it is not something that are wanted by many I suspect it will never happen.

@Psychotps You could even make up years so instead of having a certain year you input a year month and day or change the format. I know this is wishful thinking but ahahha
