Why does my Sim have to travel to start stay overs?

Whenever I have a Sim living in San Myshuno and they plan a stay over the event will start but nobody shows up unless I travel and come back to the lot. This has been happening for at least a few months.

    @Syxarp I'm so sorry that this has happened to you!

    Try repairing your game :
    1. Go to Sims 4 homepage
    2. Click "Manage"
    3. Click "Repair"
    4. Wait 1-5 minutes (depending on how many packs you have)

    Thank you for the suggestion but I have done all that several times. It doesn’t help. Now I just travel shortly before the stay over event starts and when I get the notification then I go home and the event starts.
