:: Question - How Do I Fabricate a Rug? ::

You need the store no more fabricator. That's what your sim uses to fabricate items with.

Also the bits and pieces is what your sim gets from recycling stuff. The hammer symbol from breaking down build kinda items. The banana symbol is from breaking down food items. The best way I found to get pits and pieces is to add the recycle lot trait to your sim's lot and then dig for consumables and dig for something else I can't remember at this moment. You get more times to dig that way in the trash that way. I hope that makes sense.

Hi @Chicklet453681 , what exactly is the problem you are having?

Are you able to click on the non-grayed-out options below your red box, like the first one for example (plain color) ?

The options that are grayed out, such as noir and shale, require the ingredient displayed to the right (the dye).

@Chicklet453681 the pic with the rug ahows the cost of making the rug & the pic of your sims household funds shows how much you have available. You have enough to make your rug ?. And yes, you do need dyes if you want to make colored items.

@DragonAge_300905 I have the fabricator on a community lot so she'd have to travel and get out of the house, plus her lot is too small to have it there. I do have a recycler on the community lot and also one on her home lot hidden away. So I tried using the fabricator after she recycled what she found in the dumpster and I saw she had enough bits and pieces.

@mightysprite Yes, I can click the non-grayed out options, but nothing happens. Well actually, I'm not exactly sure what should happen. The box like the picture I showed, just stays on the screen and never minimizes after I click my choice. If I "x" out of it after making a choice, she doesn't do anything, like it's not actually been activated.

@Starfree I bought 4 dyes before she went dumpster diving on the community lot, I didn't realize those didn't automatically go into her inventory. It said they'd be delivered by mail, but when she got back home and clicked on the mailbox there wasn't anything there and it had been over 12 sims hours.

@Chicklet453681 , click the second rug :) the one you choosed just opens all rugs to see, if you click the one below it, box should go away.

Yeah, like others have said, you chose the what, then the which. So rug - normal, shale, blue, orange, red, whatever.

@Starfree Honestly I don't remember. I think so, but it could have been either from the phone or PC (I know I have mods installed that allow you to purchase more stuff through either of those and I do know that I looked to see if "bits and pieces" were an option to just purchase, so it's possible that I saw the dyes and purchased them that way, but I can't really remember. So it's quite possible it didn't go to my inventory because of the mods).

** UPDATE **

So, it turns out that I am just a big dummmmeh! Like @Ellupelluellu and @WildIrishBanshee said, I was clicking the wrong thing. I did indeed need to click the rug and then again the plain regular non-colored rug.

I was finally able to fabricate the rug (after 3 tries! I didn't think it was working because nothing showed up in my inventory. And I thought maybe you didn't actually "complete" the rug the first time you tried to fabricate it.)

So I wasted more and more Bits and Pieces by fabricating again and again, and it still didn't show up in my inventory. Or my household inventory. But I was able to send it to the client for approval from the computer and it gave me a list of items I could choose from, there were 3 rugs there!

So, I definitely have a mod that is interferring with my inventory. Now I get the fun task of trying to figure out which one it is!
