Having now stayed in industrial state for several sims weeks I am starting to think I have been reading the eco footprint bar wrong. I assume they this whole bar represent the whole spectrum of the footprint. On the left you are fully green in the middle neutral and on the right you have industrial. Now I think the circle in the middle moves up and down the scale! If the arrow is pointing right then the circle move to the right and when it hits full industrial, the brown bar disappears and you are now in the new state where the left is neutral, the middle is industrial and the right is even more industrial.
Ohhh I noticed this yesterday with the green footprint good to know "jimbbq;c-17529246" wrote:
So I played conifer station and took the time to change all walls papers floor of all houses to industrial heavy. Within a week I got to full industrial status. Immediately after that the industrial bar dropped instantly to just 20% and the arrow is aggressively moving green. Definitely a bug. it is not possible to stay in industrial status for longer then a few days.
I say awesome because I kinda love that you have to work to keep things green. I can't wait to figure out the community center.- Joanne_SnowRising TravelerAw glad this thread exists. I'm now gonna put only high-consumption appliances in my house and see if that helps lol. Also, I noticed that there's only wallpaper with an environment loss? The one from Strangerville? Did you find any others?

You will likely need to edit all the lots in the hood to achieve industrial. Good luck ! There are not many wallpapers and flooring with industrials scores. It seems easier being green in the sims 4.- Ok look like my interpretation of the footprint bar is wrong. I stay in industrial state for a while and suddenly without the arrow pointing left too much (lets say I don’t see any green bar developing) suddenly I am back to neutral because a few of my power generators burnt down in a huge fire .... I don’t understand how the footprint system works .

Nor me.
I just played for one sim day with a homeless sim. He spent most of his time chatting to other sims cos he was lonely and diving for dumpster meals and stuff. The eco footprint started over half-way full on the industrial side and by the next morning it was neutral.
The only thing my sim did that could have altered it was recycle a dead fish he found. - I'm clearly missing something or something isn't tuned right.
I finally did have it 100% industrial. Soon as I got the notification it was at 50% again. I paused my game to read the popup so it was an instantaneous drop. Nothing on my lot has changed, I have no neighbours and my sims aren't doing anything different from what I did to turn it industrial and now it's arrowing towards the green again?!
I'm a little surprised it went from 100% to 50% in literally zero game play time though. Feels like it's just not working quite right. "Camkat;c-17529950" wrote:

Yup. Happened to me in two different neighbourhood. But if you wait for the brown bar to drop to zero the arrow it will stop there and your hood will stay industrial.- SimmervilleSeasoned Ace

Interestingly when the bar dropped to neutral it did not revert my hood status back to neutral ! Instead It stays industrial and the arrow is now heading back to industry. It is weird. But I am happy I can stay industrial for a while now it seems !
I think weather and season comes into play. Sunlight, rain, temperature all impact both wastes and gains eco wise.
I was not as prepared as I thought when installing this pack - my save had just entered 14 days of Winter, and it has been snowing a lot. I hardly saw garbage in Port Promise, because snow covers most of it. And visiting houses to test eco activities was not as fun during snow blizzards - and - no way to find juice ingredients in Winter... I'm still in Winter, expecting Evergreen Harbor has turned green long before I get to see the grounds in Spring... - elliebretonSeasoned VeteranSo... I had a mooch around the internet and it appears that the industrial area in the harbour is set up to be going back towards neutral because of how the houses are decorated.
I had a look through build/buy and it seems a little weighted in the green category because of doors and windows.
For going green you can use:
Floors - wood, some stone, some masonry, some outdoor
Walls - rock and stone, some paneling, a few masonry, a few siding
Lots of fencing and some roof patterns
Some doors and windows
For going industrial you can use:
Floors - some stone floors, some masonry, metal, some outdoor
Walls - painted, a few wallpaper, a few tiles, masonry, most siding
A few fencing and roof patterns
I could find no industrial doors and only one window, which is the unlockable from the science career.
There are neutral ones in all categories.
