A suggestion

I don't want to start anything negative with this post. Please don't be negative rude and offensive. I don't mean to come accross as throwing shade on anybody eithre. I apologize if I come accross as rude mean disrespectful and that.

Last Month was Hispanic/LatinX heritage month it was also breast cancer awareness with "Pink for the Cure" month as well. We didn't get any pink outfits, new pink haii styles or pink clothes last month or a pink ribbon for our sims. I'm sure there are survivors or those who have had family members who are survivors of breast cancer. Nothing was done all of October for that.

This month is Native American Heritage Month. I don't expect or demand that the sims team does anything for that side of my heritage. I know they won't do anything Native American or to honour the Native American people. Why waste my breath asking for something that will never happen. I'm not even going to complain or even demand something be done for this because I'm used to having that culture being excluded/ignored in the sims. I think that it's more a matter of the sims team doesn't know enough about the Native American People and don't want to offend anybody with misrepresentation or offending anybody by using anything that could be looked as sacred to that culture and using it. I don't think they want to add in new dances our sims can learn out of respect and not sure how to tastefiully do it. It's more ignorance of the culture than anything else. Ignorance isn't meant to be a negative insult but an honest observation on my part. We are all ignorant in some way or another.

With that said I'm happy that even though some Hispanics and LatinX simmers were offended by this and found it sterotypical focusing on Mexican culture at least they tried and I liked it. Thought that a lot of the stuff was cute. I was hoping that they would add in more Hispanic and LatinX presets to base game and skintones that were more oriented towards at least one minority in honour of the culture and the people. Maybe Next Year thay'll have the fore thought to do that. Yes, you get a star sticker sims team for that and a pat on the head and a good job keep uphe good work from me.

My suggestion is to really work on making a better game that doesn't break everytime a major update is done first before appeasing us with incluson. That doesn't mess up our occult sims because of the assuption that nobody is on Team Occult nor do we as simmers play or care about occults in our game. Some of only play occults.

Seriously EA needs to do a serious SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Oppurtunities Threats) Analysis especially with the sims franchise.

Do you know why America was the first to put a man on the moon? Because The American Governamnt saw the The Soviets as competition and didn't want them to win against them in getting somebody to the moon first. Competition makes a company a better company I honestly believe. EA needs to have that same attitude towards their competitors. See what their competitors want to do and can do so far in their actual and development stages of their games. Figure out how to do that in the sims. Make a shout out to all simmers. Ask for their help. Pay them for their work. Stop doing incoimplete work and packs. There is no shame in asking for help. No shame in pushing something back and putting a pack out later than when you wanted it out.

I want to be excited about all the new things that will be added in to this update but I am wondering how unplayable and for how long it will be unplayable playing vanilla, how broken occults are going to be and how many modders it will take to fix it all when it shouldn't be broken n the first place.

This is not acceptable. Fix what is broken before breaking things more. That is my suggestion.

I apologize if I came accross rude, critical, mean, disrespectful and throwing shade. I just want a game where I shouldn't need mods to make the game interesting and at times playable because of all the problems that are wrong with the game. I was trying to do constructive criticism not be a (bleep). Just do better.

  • I would absolutely love some First Nation items in the game! I have a couple of Sims that I created to have Native American features and some traditional garb and nice house items would be awesome. Soft moccasin shoes and boots, new lightly beaded hair styles, nice wraps and drapey clothing and some wood, stone and bone jewelry pieces and dream catchers and new statue carvings would be wonderful as well as some traditional pieces.

I know that the Maxis team does a lot of research when they do cultural items so they would most likely reach out to someone in the Native community to get input.

Honestly, I'd love a whole game pack around this culture, I think it would be something quite different if some of the lore was incorporated. As an Occult player, I could see Werewolves working really well on a more "spirit animal" or "spiritual shapeshifter" angle and the Medicine Man being a mystical healer.

You're right though, to do an accurate representation means they'd have to be very careful how and what they incorporated. But to take inspiration from it would be great.
  • I also don't want to sound rude but I probably will so here goes. I personally don't want real life issues in the game. Like just stop it. Stop trying to please everybody with items and focus more on the game play.

Inclusivity is nice and all but it was never made this much of a big deal when the Sims 1, 2 and 3 were the current games and nobody complained, they just got on with playing the games.

The more the developers try to be inclusive the more they make others feel alienated or left out and before we know it all we will have is a game with hundreds of useless items and terrible game play. It's already heading that way. They focus so much on providing items, clothes and other things in the name of inclusivity that the game play is suffering for it.
  • Although it is a lovely suggestion, I think real life cultures put in this game, shown many times to be a bad idea, it causes arguments I dont know why but it does, i agree with @Sharonia that real life issues should only remain in real life and keep this game as an escapism, I think sims should stay comical and keep seriousness out, although it's also a nice suggestion adding breast cancer awareness items, in real life we know it exists, alot people either had it, has it or known someone that died from cancer, again most people play sims too escape real life because oh boy it's hard

Same, I play this game to escape from real life. Cancer awareness is important but do we really need it in the sims? And we can't have all sorts of culture and representation in the game, there is always someone who is going to feel left out and the game just lacks the systems needed to support it. What's the point of adding cultural or religious clothing if the game is just going to generate sims who wear horrible generated outfits that looks like a mess? What sort of representation is that?

Sims is not real life, it's a game.

I agree, too. Even though I play an 18th century game save wherein The Nations would and did come into play, I have to rely on my own CAS abilities and some research to have what I want in my game. It is difficult. I also have a very hard time grasping this "new-fangled" notion of inclusivity. No matter how hard you try, somebody always gets left out. I also play this game to escape what RL throws at me.
  • Even though EA stumbles at times, I appreciate that they strive for inclusivity.
  • I miss the days when the sims was JUST A GAME, that's it. I wonder if other games, where you create characters, get this much backlash from players because this or that was left out.

I think that The Sims, should be, and should have always been, fictional ...... fictional worlds, fictional cultures, fictional races.

Then you would not have this massive amount of discontent between players. Why do they have to fashion worlds after RL places? They are not creative enough to dream up a unique world?

I mean there's no possible way they could ever win the game of "inclusivity".

I'm 5 foot 1 inches tall in RL, there is absolutely no way I can be represented in the game, my skin tone is NOT in the game, I'm a dirty blonde with fair skin, but the hair swatches look nothing like mine, nor do the skin tones. I just deal with it, use the least ugly blonde shade and go with a lighter tan skin tone (because the pale ones are just hideous ....... yellow jaundiced looking or pig pink).

So yeah, just give me back the days when the game was just a game!
  • Why just breast cancer? Why not all cancers? Why not ALL illnesses?
  • I don't like cancer. I lost my wonderful, beautiful Aunt to cancer. :'(
  • I suggested Breast Cancer as an example because October is the official Breast Cancer Awareness Moth focusing on having women who are of age to get a mammogram teach breast cancer awareness and get donations for a cure for breast cancer,

I agree all illnesses and cancers should have something donated to and are causes worth supporting.
