About Experimental Food (Group Meals and Cooking on Regular Stoves)

Ever since I got Dine Out, I thought the experimental food was really neat. Something still really bothers me about it, though. I hate that it's only possible to cook experimental dishes on a chef station. They take up A LOT of space, and let's face it, the normal everyday home is not going to have something like that in its kitchen. I also hate that you can only make singular servings of experimental dishes. Seriously, why can't we make experimental group meals? It makes no sense!

It also doesn't help that the chef stations are kind of buggy as is. Certain dishes, it seems, cannot be cooked on them. Sims will just wave their arms as if something's blocking their way and put the ingredients on a counter or the floor. For example, I've observed this happening with rack of lamb.

Experimental group meals, please! And experimental foods on regular stoves!
  • I hope someone will eventually make a mod for it. it IS annoying a f. I mean, why??? please explain the reasoning behind it, sims team!!!
  • Thanks for posting this. I've had my sim going out and trying all the experimental dishes. Didn't realize they require the chef station. Time to rearrange the kitchen.
  • I didn't realize that it was single servings only, so I had my sim earn a ton of money so I could rebuild her entire kitchen to fit one of the chef stations. After several hours of basically grinding this poor woman to get enough money, I rearrange the whole house and remodel the entire kitchen to fit that monster of a 'stove', only to find out that you can only make single servings. Perhaps it was my fault for not checking first, but it was a huge letdown and an even bigger blow after all the work. I had spent hours making her learn every meal at 'chef llamz' or whoever you spell it. Originally I thought it might be a hard thing to fit into the game, but since CL allows you to taste (like dine out does) and replicate (much like done out). we should be able to make a large dish for those as well. I've searched for months but sadly, no mods to fill this need.
  • I'm glad that I saw this post. I only just now tried to have a Sim make an experimental dish for a story. That's when I realized that it's only available to cook at home with the chef station.

    Bummer.

I'll have to use cheat codes to get the dishes. How silly. Food is food. Sims should be able to make it anywhere.
  • I just found this thread. I agree there should be a chef station capable stove appropriate for a home - and group meals.
  • This is an old thread. I purchased the game Christmas 2018. So, in Jan 2019 my sim was cooking experimental food on a regular stove. Ya just need to have cooking level 5 I think.
  • Hello everyone, please remember that necroposting is against the rules. I've gone ahead and closed the thread.
