I chose Illusions because the aliens in the Sims have telepathic powers, suggesting that mental strength is very strong within them. Some sims can see through their "disguise" (which causes that negative saw an alien moodlet), while other Sims in the family still see them as "normal sims" in spite of one sim in the household knowing their true identity.
Logically I can only conclude that since some sims can see through their "disguise" while others can't, would insinuate and make more sense to see a glitch in an Illusion with enough mental strength than any other option. This suggests that the "disguise" is a projection of the mind, so Sims with more "brain power" tend to see through their "disguise" more than unenlightened sims, suggesting that condition of a Sim's psyche determines whether or not they can "fight" to see through the alien's psychic illusion trick or not.
Plus, some sims see an alien's true self, while other Sims see only their "disguise" means an alien would have to shapeshift within microseconds showing their true self to a "woke" sim, just to then changing back immediately to their "disguise" when an oblivious sim looks at them, especially on a public lot. It just seems too exhaustive of an option that would make sense.
Holographic Projectors would be a strong second option, but how is it that some sims can see through the projection and other's can't?
Mind manipulation, aka Illusion, would be the option of the least resistance.
Wow, this is a insightful thread, and I think it's great you came up with this!
