- I'd really like an official "self-employed" career category for things like Archaeology plus people who make their living freelancing (painting/writing/programming) rather than an actual day job. Would also cover those who make money from gardening -- I'd like to have an actual market cart that works like the flea market tables, modeled after the ones seen in the Windenburg concept art.

Seconded. My sims are not "unemployed"; they're running a vet clinic and do archaeology digs. If we're not getting an archaeology career (which was on my wishlist), we might as well register as self-employed. - I noticed that too!!! I LOVE being able to have freelance jobs in the game in which I have full control over when and how my sim earns money. I've done freelance work before IRL and to be honest I LOVED it.
- OldeSimsFanNew TravelerI fully agree. There most definitely should be a self employed option.
- Agreed!! and with the yard sale table from city living I get to earn really big bucks setting my prices at 200% without any stress ;)
- I agree! My sims are not unemployed, they have an art gallery and a vet clinic and make more money than having a career lvl 5, how is that being unemployed?

This, if only for the fact that I wouldn't keep getting 'whims' about needing a job, when I obviously have one, it's just not 'official', lol."TheGoodOldGamer;c-16359634" wrote:

I'd like to just be able to selectively remove some whims. Yes, my sim lives in an apartment, no, she doesn't want a talking toilet. Why does she have to have constant whims about buying a talking toilet?
Or the "hates children" sim who keeps getting whims about buying a toddler jungle gym just because there's a toddler in the house. She doesn't want to buy a toddler jungle gym, she hates them!- I to wish these home jobs were classified as work from home jobs. My sims also are not unemployed, they work very hard at gardening, digging fishing and hunting in the jungle for treasure as well as bringing up their two children.
- ChampandGirlieNew SpectatorI agree with that. Similarly, I typically use my Dine Out venues as dining locations for my sims. I recently created a restaurant mogul who I'd like to be a restaurant owner but I don't want to lose the dining venues as playable spaces for my rotation. I think at some point, I will switch that restaurant owner to working from home. I guess I'll simulate some aspects of working through practicing writing on the computer and by having him make phone calls that I will say are business calls. I'll pay him myself but he will have to actually do some work at home.
I agree that having more flexible options like we saw in CL is the way to go.
