Are Genetics Broken Again?

I know there was a problem with mermaids, but that was apparently fixed in a patch, now since installing Magic, my 2 x spellcasters (Maybe I should have posted in the pack forum, but just in case it is base game) one has silver hair (YA) and one has black hair (Mele from Sulani - Adult) and they had a red haired baby? Has anyone noticed this? I did not save the game and I'll try agin him up from baby to toddler again to see if it is random. I don't know a lot about genetics in Sims 4, I know they were pretty good in Sims 3, just wanting some people's input.

  • The game's genetic engine is trying to give the child the hair colour of the silver haired parent. It is by design, since toddlers and children don't have grey (or the other unnatural colours such as blue or pink) as an option, that they end up with a random hair colour.
  • Ahhhhhh! Thank you sooo much @afai1261 I hadn't thought of that!! Thank you ever so much  looks like he's going to take after his father then
  • oh, but does that mean his offpspring will now have that in the line all the way down?? @afai1261
  • I can confirm genetics are just fine. I gave a sim a little brother and made him look a lot like Mad Magazine's Alfred E Neuman. Turned out the original sim is a teen, so CAS decided they really needed to have a parent to finish, so I derived a mother from the boy. She is a mirror likeness of the boy. They are in my gallery as the Lonebutters, just son and mother. (Same handle as my forum)

I wish they would allow all hair colors for children.

Jupp, it feels so odd with the alien kids being restricted to the usual fare. I would love to give them green and blue hair.
