I dont get how we have rideable brooms before we have cars and tbh I think they are proof we should have had them this whole time.Brooms function exactly how we need cars to, and they function exactly how cars (and especially the helicopter) did in TS2 and TS1. Hop on the broom, move to the edge of the lot, and then to the loading screen and destination.That's all we need from cars! That's all cars did previously to TS3! Hop in, move off the edge of the lot, and load next destination!

The boats from Island Paradise too. It's not like the game doesn't have transportation. I have noticed the debug cars are starting to look better than from when I bought the Sims 4 back in 2015. I do hope the cars pull out of the drive way and off the district when clicking on the car and then if Sims still want the shortcut way, they can still use the cellphone method. I would really love Sims to be able to travel on that streetcar and steamboat too from the base game. Hopefully with brooms can get bikes and motorcycles and skateboards and paddle/surfboards too. This is how I want cars to be also. I want to be able to back them out of the driveway and pull them in... Sims 2 style. Or leave them parked in front of the lot. Considering how the roads are built very differently in each world with many areas blocked to traffic and some with no road at all I think that is the best possibility... and if you chose to put a driveway your lot in an area that doesn't make sense in the game .. well then don't do it if it bothers you.I want a variety of working cars to suit the sim and their home. To have driveway eye-candy. I also want sims to be able to build or upgrade cars as a hobby. I'd like a possibility of making an auto repair shop... with gadgets and coverall type of uniforms for the workers or hobbiests. Someone brought up in some thread that it would be nice to have a drive through or drive-in type of establishment (fast food.. maybe movies). I'd love that as another thing to go do on my sims and more settings for stories. I'd also love it if the driveway/road we put on a lot could be extended so they would drive further up on the lot (or maybe better yet .... they don't need an actual driveway at all... they could just drive all over the yard hehe..).... epps I forgot to add car woohoo .. how dare I!

I would say poofing is proof that we should have cars its a horrible lazy feature and sad that a game made in 2000 had such a basic but important game feature like cars but Sims 4 which tries to force modern on everything does not. I have not really looked into how the brooms work but if its doing what cars did in the past that's sad they could do this for supernatural players while ignoring players like me looking for realism in Sims using cars instead of poofing everywhere.

They lend themselves to reality. I loved Sims2 and, in fact, that's the game that got me hooked on Sims, in general. I didn't mind the loading screens, but Sims could also woohoo in a car in the driveway. It was fun. It was also fun that the school bus pulled up to the curb and the kids got in (or out after school) and then it faded into oblivion. The rather clunky carpool car was a hoot, too. Made me wonder how they all managed to get to work in that pathetic thing. LOL I think the real need for cars in this game, is to help make the loading screen for those who started their Sim Odyssey with Sims3, more bearable.

This is (kinda) what I was thinking. The difference between brooms and cars as a means of transportation is that a broom clearly does not need roads. It is not comparable to driving a car in this game because your Sim would have to run to the edge of the lot to get in first.

Purely for a little bit more realism like the first two games had. Open world has never been vital for cars to be fun. That was just a cherry on top.

Its called immersion and game play having a Sim poof adds absolutely nothing to game play or story telling options. Now having to have a kid get ready in time for the school adds to game play, or a father and a son working together fixing up an old junk car adds to game play poofing does not and for that I see no appeal. So when you see people looking for cars its not about watching the Sims drive from point a to b but instead the many story possibilities and realism it can bring... I'm looking for all the little details and possibilities within this game limits maybe a few new car specific lot types drive in theater, gas station, a make out spot for the teens, mechanic shop, car lot, and probably way to big for Sims 4 a lot you could practice racing on.

That made me giggle a bit. Not everyone has RoM, first off, and secondly, I do agree that the ability to have brooms fly does show a certain ability for cars to also perform to a limited degree in the game. ;) Thanks for the giggle.

Yes, but think of the buy mode possibilities. A variety of cars would finally give me something to spend money on.

And it’s also about immersion for me. Not having cars in driveways (especially in suburban environments) is very strange.
