Can cats hike with Sims in MT K? (Edit They Can't)

Can anyone confirm cats can hike with Sims in MT K? We know dogs can.

  • sad, many people leash train their cats. So hiking with them would be realistic
  • Haha, I don’t know why I was just picturing a cat rock climbing (vs hiking) and thought, oh yeah they could scale some rock, no problem. And then I was imagining how they could possibly manage a dog through the mountain mission when I realized you said hiking. Like, walking. ?
(When I “hike” IRL it often includes trails in small mountains)
  • Oddly this was one of my questions about the pack I did not dare ask as I thought it would sound stupid. Being a cat person it would have been cool to have cats go on a hike. A lot of simmers ask about dogs when packs are realised not many ask about cats except for nifty knitting.
  • That is sad. I wouldn't exactly call their view of cats outdated, just that they did not consider it important enough to give us things to do. If you remember in Sims 1, 2, and 3 they could at least learn tricks, in 2 they could have jobs, in 3 you could control them and they had skills (well developed hunting in my opinion). Plus in all other entries pets had info panels and full fledged relationships, controllable or not.

I think it is more symptomatic of dropping the pets ball than anything. Kids have been bathing dogs since Sims 1 (had a stool) and now they cannot. They also cannot walk them. These were basic chores for child pet owner me.

So yeah. It is a shame, but I am not surprised. If any pack gets extra work, I really hope it is Cats and Dogs.

Cats could have jobs in sims 2? Lol awesome. I can imagine some of mine would have been employed as pest exterminators.

Yeah. Dogs and cats could be in the service, security, or showbiz careers. They learned certain tricks for their promotions.
  • The developers just hate cats, don't they? I'm more of a cat person than a dog person in real life, but in The Sims, if I want a pet, I always go for a dog because there's nothing you can do with cats.
  • I loved the Sims 2 pets.

It looks like they've gone kind of stereotypical with the pets. Dogs for walks, cats have yarn. That's a shame. Why can't we walk our cats? They are trainable. Some cats like water, too. I've had several dogs who loved to play with yarn. They would bat the balls across the floor and roll around on their backs with the balls in their paws, then joyfully try to unravel the balls, mostly by tugging on the individual strands and creating a huge mess. :D The dogs who mostly played with yarn were all Maltese, which is a small breed, but I'm sure larger dogs would like to play with it too.
  • In case people did not know, littlemssam have made a mod where you can walk your cat. It causes an error (Last Exception) but it works. I don't think it works for hiking.
